Holidays in Royal Deeside
Better known as “Royal Deeside”, Deeside begins at the source of the Dee, high up in the Cairngorm Mountains, and ends where the by now mighty River Dee flows into the North Sea at Aberdeen.
Throughout its course it passes through some of Scotland’s most iconic scenery: the Cairngorms and the National Trust for Scotland’s Mar Lodge Estate; the pretty Highland village of Braemar; Balmoral Castle; mighty Lochnagar - a name and mountain to conjure with; the beautiful rolling agricultural land of the coastal plain and its market towns of Ballater, Aboyne and Banchory; and Aberdeen, the Granite City.
Castles and visitor attractions abound and include the National Trust for Scotland’s Crathes, Craigievar and Drum Castles, Aboyne Castle, Crathie Kirk beside Balmoral Castles, and distilleries, including famed Royal Lochnagar.
You can tour by car, enjoy many miles of truly breathtaking walks, both low-level and hill, you can fish for salmon and trout, downhill ski at Glenshee, and cross country ski anywhere you like. You can also canoe and kayak, deer stalk, road cycle, mountain bike and, of course, golf.
- Breathtaking Highland scenery with a distinctly Royal feel!
- Rolling Lowland farmland with numerous ancient market towns.
- Wonderful castles, distilleries and activities to suit all ages and tastes.
