Holidays in South Perthshire

As the name implies, Lowland Perthshire lies to the south of the Highland Boundary Fault and consists of rolling countryside laid out in a patchwork of prosperous farms and dotted with villages and market towns like Crieff, Blairgowrie, Kinross and Auchterarder. The ancient and beautiful city of Perth is the largest town.

Perth, known as “The Fair City”, is a small but beautifully formed city with a long history - indeed it celebrated its 800th Anniversary in 2010. The city is compact and flat and has plenty of parking spaces so it is very easy to explore and enjoy. You will find a river walk, parks full of flowers, historic churches and some excellent shops and restaurants.   

Lowland Perthshire boasts a wide range of attractions and activities. You can enjoy some great golf on a number of courses including Crieff, Taymouth Castle, Blair Atholl and King James VI, but most famous of all is Gleneagles with its King's, Queen's and PGA Centenary Courses.

You can also fish on various rivers or Loch Leven, walk, hill walk in the Ochil Hills, cycle and mountain bike.

Attractions include Scone Palace and the Famous Grouse Whisky Experience in Crieff

Finally, Perth’s central location makes it an ideal base from which to explore both the Highlands and Lowlands on day trips.
