South Ayrshire runs from just south of Irvine south to the Dumfries & Galloway border at the mouth of Loch Ryan, and includes the coastal towns of Troon, Prestwick, Turnberry – all well known to golfers the world over.

Ayr is a town and port and dates back to 1205 as a Royal Burgh. It is also the county town of Ayrshire. Other towns include Girvan on the coast and Maybole inland.

South Ayrshire’s sandy beaches, wide range of activities and entertainments, attractive towns and villages, and varied restaurants and shops make it an ideal place for family holidays.   

In addition to golf you can also cycle, walk, sea angle, enjoy boat trips, sail or enjoy a cruise in a paddle steamer on the Firth of Clyde from Ayr.

There is also an abundance of Burns’ sites, including the Burns National Heritage Park, Brig o’ Doon, Alloway Kirk, the Bachelor’s Club in Tarbolton and Souter Johnnie’s Cottage in Kirkoswald.  .
