Glamis Castle

near Forfar

Scotland is renowned for the quality of its cottages and castles and this is a shining example of the latter, albeit that we cannot let you stay in it!

Glamis Castle has been home to the Earls of Strathmore for over 600 years and was the birthplace of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon - Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. In addition, the late Princess Margaret, her second daughter, was born at Glamis.

Glamis is a splendid example of Scottish baronial architecture, its 17th century towers and battlements encasing a tower house core dating back to the 14th century – and maybe earlier.
