Royal Yacht Britannia
Edinburgh
The Royal Yacht Britannia was a much-loved home to the British Royal Family for over 40 years and hosted some of the most famous people in the world.
Now situated in a special dock in Edinburgh’s port of Leith, you can go on board and explore this magnificent floating palace for yourself.
Highlights include the Crew’s Quarters (cramped), the Engine Room (gleaming), and, of course, the State Apartments and Royal Deck Tea Room (stunning). Almost all the furniture and paintings in the State Apartments is on loan from Her Majesty The Queen.
There is full access for single child buggies and wheelchairs.
Alongside The Royal Yacht Britannia, and viewed from a special pontoon all year apart from July and August, you can see the 1930s Racing Yacht “Bloodhound”, which was once owned by The Queen and on which both the Prince of Wales and Princess Royal learned to sail.
