My Little Piece of Scotland
My Little Piece of Scotland
You will be rolling in the isles – and canoeing and windsurfing – with the fun to be had on Jura and Tiree.
MY FAVOURITE little piece of Scotland has got to be the Isle of Tiree. I have been going there for at least three years. There is normally very good surf and I love climbing up rocks and jumping off sand banks.
Every morning my mum, dad, sister and I go for a bike ride. I really enjoy cycling because it gets me fit. One of my favourite things is having a barbecue on the beach where I met my friends Lauren and Connell. We all jumped off sandbanks.
There is a loch that my dad windsurfs on and I like watching him because he is really good. I really don't like to leave Tiree, but I do have fun on the ferry home.

MY FAVOURITE piece of Scotland is the Isle of Jura. It's a beautiful place and I love going there. My family have been going there for more than 50 years. You have to get the ferry to Islay, then take a smaller one to Jura. The ship's curry and sticky toffee pudding gets your holiday off to a flying start.
When we arrive on the island, we drive to the village of Craighouse and stop off at the Jura Hotel to play a game of pool (we know the locals). We then drive up into the hills, where we rent a cottage. My wee brother loves the window seat.
We bring my dinghy, and when we've been there for a few days, our grandparents come across with the canoes. It is fun canoeing because they are really wobbly and you are always thinking that you're going to capsize.
It is also really good because my dog is never on a lead for two whole weeks and the water is so clean he smells good for once.
I went crabbing with my dad and we caught one which was about 15cm long (we always put them back in the water).
When I leave Jura, I feel very sad, but I know I will be back next year.
