COTTAGES AND CASTLES’ LETTINGS SOAR AS FLYBE OPEN UP SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS
Cottages and Castles Ltd, Scotland’s specialist holiday lettings company, has announced a dramatic increase in lettings taken during the first two months of the year from last year’s figures.
The holiday lettings company Cottages and Castles, run by the partners of property consultancy CKD Galbraith, has seen its figures rise this year with a 30 per cent increase in January’s cottage lettings, as well as showing promising interim results for February. This figure is for bookings placed for the year ahead with the North of Scotland, primarily in Ross-shire, Inverness-shire and Sutherland experiencing the increase.
Sue Bourne, manager of Cottages and Castles, believes that easier access to the Highlands provided by frequent, low-cost flights, as well as the enduring appeal of the Scottish landscape, could be a contributing factor to the increase in self-catering holiday makers. Flybe has been offering flights to Inverness from major English cities since March 2007 and is pleased that their routes are helping to increase the Highland tourist industry.
Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer for Flybe, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to see that our services at Inverness are having a positive effect on local businesses, such as Cottages & Castles. Since we began operating out of Inverness in March last year we’ve made a concerted effort to continue developing our Highland offering with new route announcements, new aircraft, exciting opportunities for advertisers and community activity.
“Offering more routes to and from Inverness than any other airline in 2008 and as proud sponsor of Inverness Caledonian Thistle, we have a direct feed into the local economy and know how important aviation is for business and leisure travellers alike. We’re committed to serving the Highlands in the long term and hope that Flybe and Inverness can help each other to continue to thrive in the years to come.”
Sue Bourne continued: “Having begun 25 years ago as a way for estate owners to let out property, Cottages and Castles has gone from strength to strength, increasing our letting figures and expanding our range of high quality properties. We’re thrilled with January’s increase in bookings and we look forward to building on this success throughout the year.”
New on the books of Cottages & Castles is
Balachladdich House, a mere 30 minutes drive from Inverness in the peaceful and tranquil setting of Evanton in Ross-shire. The house is beautifully furnished and boasts glorious views overlooking the Cromarty Firth.
Red Kite House is a spectacular and beautiful historic house which has recently been renovated to exceptionally high standards. Located only twenty minutes from Inverness airport on the Black Isle, the house is in a private estate offering numerous walks and an abundance of wildlife.
