Cairngorm Ski Conditions


Run Conditions: With recent snowfall there is about 5-10cm of fresh snow on an established firm base. There is a good cover of snow in the Ptarmigan Bowl and Ciste fairway, and also on the run from top to middle via the Traverse, Coire Cas and the Gunbarrel. It is very windy heading from the top along the Traverse. The Cas still has rocks showing especially on the sides. The top Zig Zag has good cover, but the bottom two are still broken. More snow is forecast for the coming few days. Current weather at 1097m: Current weather: Overcast and feeling cold in the wind. Wind SW 65mph. Weather forecast: Forecast for Wednesday: A generally cloudy day with some rain early on, falling as snow on summits.Turning drier later, with pockets of sunshine toward the east in the afternoon. Wind. W 40mph strengthening to 50 to 80mph. Temp @900m 0C rising to +3C but feeling as cold as -16C in the wind. Road Status: ROAD OPEN. Maximum vert descent: 400m News from the slopes The Funicular Railway is expected to open at 9am. All other uplift is on hold due to high winds. We will keep this under constant review, and inform you if conditions change. Should the winds drop today the Coire na Ciste tow will not operate due to a mechanical problem. The West Wall poma will operating in it's place, loading from the bottom of the fairway. The first funicular train up is at 9.00, with the last train up at 15.45, and the last train down at 16.30. The VANS Terrain park is closed for the next few days to relocate the features and redress the Piste conditions. The sledge park is closed. Due to streams and uneven ground under the snowpack, and for general safety on the pistes we do not allow customers to bring their own sledges up on the Funicular.
