Perfectly positioned on a beautiful 1200 acre farm on the eastern shore of Loch Fyne, Acharossan is a wonderfully luxurious self catering house and a striking example of old meeting new.  This 18th Century traditional Scottish laird’s house has been completely renovated and carefully designed to provide exceptional comfort yet cleverly retains the welcoming, relaxed atmosphere that this part of the west coast is so well known for.

Reality will fade and your holiday begin as you travel down one of Scotland’s famous single track roads along the stunning shores of Loch Fyne towards Acharossan.  From the moment you arrive you will be instantly smitten by the sense of relaxation and understated elegance of this special house in Argyll.  Throughout the impressive interior, the emphasis is on comfort and simplicity with flagstone flooring, traditional sash windows, working shutters and a wonderful stone spiral staircase leading to the pretty bedrooms and ensuite state of the art bathrooms. 

The elegant wood panelled sitting room with its roaring log fire is perfect for a retreat into a deep sofa with a good book, while the library, adjoining the kitchen, is ideal for those who want to play games or watch television - younger guests will love the upstairs playroom with its beanbags and mini billiards table.  The large and extremely stylish open plan kitchen creates the heart of the house and is a marvellous gathering place for long relaxed holiday dinners.  This fabulous room has been cleverly designed with a heated slate floor and a glass roof at the far end allowing the light to flood in.  A door leads out to a stone terrace where summer meals or a barbeque can be enjoyed while marvelling at the far reaching views or cheering on a game of tennis on the court behind.

Tucked away down its own 1 mile driveway and surrounded by the most spectacular Argyll scenery, Acharossan is a glorious holiday house ideal for children who can run freely through the large open garden and explore the surrounding countryside.  The estate also enjoys its own private beach and the river Auchalick runs within easy reach of the house making it ideal for the keen fisherman.

Activities

Guests will fully enjoy this wonderful estate in a landscape of uninhabited hills, grassland, moors and forests where the only sounds you are likely to hear are birdsong, animals grazing in the fields below and the breeze in the trees and grass.  This is home to abundant wildlife including many species of birds, seals, otters, deer and much more.  Fly trout fishing on river (2 rods) – fishing jackets, waders & fishing rods availableSeasonal stalking available by separate arrangement (lockable gun cupboard in hallway) locally - the local village of Tighnabruaich has a 9 hole golf course, a sailing school (with courses in dinghy sailing & windsurfing), canoeing, scuba diving and many lovely beaches.  There are over 20 glorious gardens in Argyll to discover including the nearby Arkinglas Woodland Garden with it fine collection of rhododendrons and conifers, the150 acre Benmore Botanic Gardens and the recently restored NTS Crarae Gardens.  The historic town of Inveraray is within easy reach with its fairytale castle, home to the Duke of Argyll
