Evanachan is just the ticket for when you really want to get away from it all and truly relax – only a couple of hours drive from the Glasgow city, this self catering holiday cottage seems a whole world away.  As you turn off the beautiful Argyll coastal road and make the final half mile ascent to the farm, you will quickly realise what a special place you have come to.  For there, stretched out across the horizon is one of the most stunning loch views you could ever hope for.

You will not only be warmly greeted by the owners of this wonderful Scottish organic farm but also quietly grazing nearby will be the two much loved Jersey cows and family ponies.

Although attached to the main farmhouse, this lovely white-washed holiday cottage is totally secluded with its own front door and lovely little garden.  Inside, the cosy interiors are full of traditional charm with comfortable country-style furnishings that blend in perfectly with the gentle Scottish atmosphere.  Whilst this self-catering cottage is listed to accommodate four in two spacious double bedrooms, it has the added bonus of an additional single bed in each room making it perfect for families.

From each room you will be able to enjoy the ever changing skies of the long summer evenings as the sun sets creating a magic of colour across Loch Fyne and chilly winter evenings can be spent snuggled up in front of the cosy wood burning stove playing games or reading while enjoying a glass of wine or a peaty malt whisky.

There are also facilities for guests to bring their own horse and don’t forget your tennis racket as the farm boasts its own tennis court.

Activities

Whatever time of year, this lovely area has much to offer all age groups.  Evanachan farm has a tennis court which guests may use and there are also many stunningly beautiful walks to be enjoyed from the cottage across open farmland, through forestry or along shoreline where there are lovely sandy  bays to explore.  Cyclists will be able to take advantage of the quiet highland roads and excellent nearby forestry cycle paths and the local town of Tighnabruaich is popular for sailing and yachting with an excellent sailing school, boat trips and loch cruises.  The nearby village of Kames has a 9 hole golf course.

Otter Ferry is ideally placed to enjoy the many day trips that are on offer around the beautiful Cowal Peninsula and Argyll.  Drive the short distance to Portavadie and catch a ferry to the picturesque town of Tarbert on the Mull of Kintyre.  Spend a day exploring Inveraray with its romantic fairytale castle (home to the Duke & Duchess of Argyll), bell tower and historic jail.  Wherever you venture there is always the chance of seeing some of Scotland’s finest wildlife including many birds of prey, eagles, otters, pine marten, deer and maybe even a dolphin.

Electric hob & oven, fridge with ice box, microwave, washing facilities available on request. Travel cot and high chair. Seasonal organic produce available including eggs from the farm’s Black Rock hens and cheese from Daisy the Jersey cow.
