Overlooking the River Ruel and surrounded by a pretty, well-kept garden, Waulkmill Cottage is a charming, traditional semi-detached holiday cottage in Argyll ideally placed for a couple or small family wishing to get-away and enjoy all that this naturally beautiful part of the west coast of Scotland has to offer.

The modest, yet cosy country-style interiors create a relaxed homely atmosphere with everything necessary provided for a comfortable, good value holiday.  Careful use has been made of the living room space with welcoming seating, a small dining area and a practical, well-equipped kitchen which has a stable-style doorway leading to a secluded terrace where peaceful summertime drinks can be enjoyed while listening to the river flow by.  This room also benefits from a large window filling the room with light and giving a lovely outlook across the well-kept enclosed garden.

Not only will you be warmly welcomed by the owners who live in the adjoining cottage but also by the wonderful bird and wildlife that live in the surrounding garden and woodlands.  Step out the door and enjoy lovely walks along the river bank and through open countryside absorbing the stunning unspoilt scenery of Glendaruel.  This friendly self catering holiday cottage will allow you to feel relaxed and leave the world behind.

Private entrance through shared garden to small hallway, open plan sitting/dining/kitchen with door leading to patio area and rear garden, bathroom (bath with hand held shower, wc & whb), double bedroom with large walk-in storage cupboard (including approved gun cabinet)

Activities

Waulkmill Cottage is perfectly placed for numerous exciting day trips and an ideal location for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts with endless beautiful woodland and riverside walks and cycle trails right from the door.  The local Kilmodan Church has an interesting collection of west highland carved stones.  A permit for salmon & sea trout fishing on the River Ruel can be purchased and the nearby coastal village of Tighnabruaich offers superb boat trips & water sports.

This stunning part of Argyll has many beautiful sandy beaches and rocky shores to explore and day trips can be spent enjoying the Trossachs, Inveraray, Oban (with ferries to Mull & the islands), the Kyles of Bute and Loch Lomond.  Catch the ferry from Portavadie and enjoy a day trip to Tarbert and the stunning Mull of Kintyre.

Cowal is home to several glorious gardens including Ardkinglas Woodland Garden which has one of the finest collections of rhododendrons and conifers within the British Isles and the 150 acre Benmore Botanic Gardens at foot of Loch Eck.  Waulkmill Cottage is also ideally placed for walking the picturesque Cowal Way.

Linen and towels provided. Electric panel heating plus electric focal point fire in living room. Electricity included (additional charge of £20 per week will be made during winter months Oct/Nov/Feb/March - this is payable to the owner).

TV/Sky Freesat, DVD, CD/radio. Electric cooker, fridge with ice compartment, microwave, washing facilities available.

Full use of enclosed, well-kept shared garden; fenced off pond within garden  plus secluded terrace to rear with garden furniture
