If you're seeking peace and quiet, this is the cottage for you. I have always travelled with large companies before, the sort where if it sleep 6 you get 6 teaspoons and 3 pans......so this cottage was a complete joy, everything you needed and more. It is a perfect spot and the wildlife is abundant, you could easily spend a week watching the tides going in and out and spotting wildlife. Argyll though is stunning, and there are plenty of places to visit, altho some a little pricey and not really worth it. The visitors book was great for tips It was great also that Lochgilphead was 4 miles away with a great array of little shops, including a Tesco express, which was convenient for anything you'd forgotten The one thing that was particularly special for us city dwellers was the night sky, just spectacular.....with a few bats thrown in We will definitely be visiting again, really enjoyed our week

just got back from great stay at pier cottage,cant fault it,location,comfort,facilities,very helpful owner especially keeping us topped up with logs for fire and clearing fallen trees on lane after strong gales on last night! would recommend this cottage 100% and already thinking of returning,my family loved seeing deer,seals and even an eagle.To eat (me) the trevallich inn good simple menu great location,to keep fit/jog (wife) the crinan canal excellent well maintained 8mile towpath lochgilphead to crinan

Our third half term break at Pier Cottage was slightly derailed by heating problems and a lack of hot water early in the holiday. Fortunately, these were resolved and we went on to enjoy our holiday, despite very mixed weather. Sadly, Pier Cottage itself is beginning to look rather tired compared to earlier years and could definitely do with a 'spruce up'. Sofas and soft furnishings need cleaned. Kitchen pots, glassware, mugs and table mats all need replaced - many kitchen items are now very worn and shabby. It's a great cottage in a great location, but a bit of investment and TLC are definitely needed to ensure it maintains the high standards of the early years. We left a note for the caretaker highlighting a number of issues such as lights not working, seals round shower and bath needing replaced and causing leaks etc. Occupancy levels at Pier Cottage are obviously high - just look at the guest book - and the wear and tear is now beginning to show.

This was our third time at Pier Cottage and in general we really enjoyed ourselves. The weather was terrible, but it is Scotland. The cottage is still lovely and very comfortable, even with the forest behind now cut down. Just a couple of small things on a wish list. It is very nice to have a welcome tea tray and small bottle of milk in the fridge. It would also be nice if salt and pepper were in the house, as they are so basic. A night light on the upstairs landing would also be a help from a fear of people falling down the stairs. When it gets dark at Pier Cottage, it REALLY gets dark. We couldn't get any of the outside lights to work, but it could be that we couldn't find the right switches. A little leaflet of instructions might be a help, especially the TV as it is now freeview. Lastly, the heating. It was like a sauna when we arrived and being a different system with no thermostat we could not turn it down so we had to contact the caretaker. Simple instructions? Overall, we had a great time and would certainly come back for a 4th stay!

Look no further! This most beautifully appointed, imaculate, and generously sized cottage is set in the most amazing natural surroundings; which you'll never ever forget. Set right alongside the ever-changing Loch Fyne, and with a fine vista to match, there's a vast array of interesting wild life to watch too. It's a complete tranquil haven away from everyday life. And yes, we'd even go so far as to say, once you've stayed here, you'll soon want to go back! If you do manage to drag yourself away from watching the rippling tides and amusing birds to cook, the kitchen has all the pots, pans and utensils you'll need, and those little extra touches supplied on your arrival are very thoughtfull indeed. This has got to be one of the best places to stay in Scotland. Simply a 100% must do!

Another great stay at Pier Cottage - the only difference this time was that the weather was beautiful - but the weather really doesn't matter when you are staying in this idyllic cottage - so peaceful, and loads of wildlife to see. Lots to do in the area - if you can tear the kids away from fishing from the pier or checking out the rock pools. Can't praise the place enough but worried that if everyone finds out how great it is then we won't manage to get booked up again !!! - We will be back for visit No 3 !

Excellent cottage, superior facilities and amazing surroundings. A lot of space insite and outsite the cottage. A perfect place to relax and to get a lot of energy for the comming working year.

Our two week stay in Pier Cottage was wonderful. A clean & well equipped cottage in a beautiful, tranquil location. Great for anyone wanting to get away from it all, it offers spacious accomodation with good views over Loch Fyne and is a good base for touring the area. We would love to return.

The amenities were very good, the location superb the wildlife great. Will definitely go again. We went looking for peace and tranquility after a mad hectic April and we found it. Few things to help others and which have been mentioned in the visitors books [past and current]. The cottage would benefit from a folder with details of local amenities, doctors/hospital tel. no's., the log fire which filled the cottage with smoke, lack of instructions on appliances, over sensitive fire/smoke alarms in the kitchen. recommended eating out places and local walks and attractions. BUT it is a great cottage.

The cottage was beautifully appointed, equipped with everything you could possibly need. It was lovely and clean and warm when we arrived which made it very welcoming. We will definitely stay there again.

Pier cottgage is in a lovely peaceful, private setting overlooking Loch Fyne. The cottage was very comfortable and the views were superb. My husband even bought a fishing rod and spend a lot of time down on the jetty. Pier cottage was a relaxing place to spend a week. The only minor negative was TV rather small for such a large room, although we did not watch it much as we spent a lot of time outside.
