Set amidst peaceful, stunning scenery in the heart of Glen Lonan, this charming white-washed cottage offers a rare opportunity to be part of a 4,000 acre traditional working hill farm.  Josephine’s Cottage forms part of Barguillean Farm yet is totally secluded with its own entrance and has sole use of the pretty, well-kept cottage garden. 

The spacious, bright and cosy interior sleeps up to 6 guests in two double and two single bedrooms and enjoys a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere making it an ideal holiday home for families or a perfect get-away for friends wishing to enjoy the relaxed surroundings of this wonderfully scenic and unspoilt west highland glen.

As well as an inviting open fire, the large windows fill the charming sitting room with light and offer a lovely outlook across the pretty, enclosed garden.  Open the door, stroll into the garden and contemplate the magnificent view of Ben Cruachan or simply relax amongst the lovely flowers and host of garden birds.  A traditional steep cottage staircase leads up to the comfortable bedrooms and the large, well-equipped farmhouse kitchen is perfect for relaxed holiday cooking.

Guests of Josephines Cottage are welcome to enjoy free access to the beautiful 9 acre Anguss Garden, part of Scotlands Garden Scheme, which is adjacent to the house.  This magical and unspoilt wild garden is ideal for all the family with marked pathways leading around its glorious loch and surrounded by a remarkable collection of trees and shrubs.

Activities

From the doorstep set off for long walks up into the hills, cycle along miles of forest track or just relax and enjoy the wonderful panoramic views across the glen to the mountain range of Ben Cruachan and Glen Etive. This magical area is not only home to amazing wildlife such as red squirrels, otters, pine marten and deer but also heaven for the enthusiastic birdwatcher with a huge variety of birds including hawks, buzzards and golden eagles.

Josephines Cottage is within close reach is the busy harbour town of Oban, known as the Gateway to the Islands with many exciting day trips to Mull, Iona and the Inner Hebrides. 

There are many excellent day trips for all the family to enjoy including Inverawe Smokeries & Country Park near Taynuilt, Oban Distillery, the historic Kilmartin Glen & Museum, The Scottish Sealife Sanctuary, many beautiful gardens, several golf courses, glorious beaches and historic castles.  Ben Cruachan (3695ft) the local Munro attracts the keen climber or you can even venture inside this great mountain and experience the astounding engineering work created by the hydro-power station.

Restricted to one pet - as this is a working farm any pet must be kept inder strict control, thank you.
