Biallid House although large and had the number of beds we required is somewhat tired. The house has definitely seen better days and I can image must be freezing in the winter. The childrens matresses' were very poor quality and indeed all of us felt the springs through matress'. We tried in vain to find covers for the duvets to no avail and the showers were useless. The water was so hot it was dangerous for the children even in the kitchen it was way to hot. I did speak about it but unfortunately Mike did not seem to know how to turn it down. I fail to understand why you have two washer dryers even with a full house one large washing machine and a tumble dryer that worked would be more sensible when we got very wet and tried to tumble dry the clothes the machine would not accept it and the clothes were dried overnight in the drying room ...that room is very efficient I do agree but a tumble dryer for a quick dry is very necessary in the highlands. The microwave did not work either It rained incessantly but that did not spoil our fun as we are we are an outdoor family but water runnning down walls is a little perturbing. Baillid House has undoubtly been lovely but not any more in my opinion it is needing a lot of repair work and I would not choose to rent it again or recommend it for the price. This all sounds harsh I do not mean to be rude it is just how we all felt especially as it was a hefty rent and we are all used to a much better standard from our holiday houses. We do this quite often and have stayed in many large houses throughout the UK.

Had a wonderful stay. Caretakers very helpful and accommodation fantastic. Thank you we hope to be able to return another time. Cannot beat being surrounded by all those mountains!

We enjoyed Biallid and Newtonmore very much. The house is large and comfortable, with sweeping views out of the many windows. Adults in our party enjoyed hiking, including a trip to the top of Cairn Gorm while the children enjoyed riding ponies at the nearby stable. Newtonmore is a quiet, small and unpretentious village with a charming local history museum and a tartan shop. There are plenty of activities available to the north in busy Aviemore, and my children, ages 11 - 18, had the time of their lives at Tree Zone on the Rothiemurchus Estate (zip line and climbing structures). It was nice to be able to go out during the day to busy places and return to the quiet of Biallid.
