Built in the 19th Century as a gatehouse for Barrogill Castle, now the Castle of Mey, East Lodge was once owned by Queen Elizabeth the late Queen Mother. The house stands on its own in a very quiet and peaceful location a mile from the castle entrance and has large sheltered and colourful gardens, completely enclosed by drystone walls making it perfect to sit out for a spot of bird watching or just to enjoy the spectacular views of the rolling hills, Pentland Firth and Orkney

This traditional highland stone lodge has plenty of character and provides comfortable accommodation for three or four. All traditional features have been maintained with modern touches in the kitchen and modern bathroom. The dining room /conservatory is bright and ideal for leisurely dining or watching the sun go down. Summer sunsets over Dunnet Head and the Atlantic are much photographed and remain an abiding memory of a holiday at East Lodge.
