Holiday Cottage Details
Overlooking Loch Broom in the peaceful community of Letters, Rivington offers very spacious high quality holiday accommodation ideal for families or a group of friends. Set privately into the wooded hillside above the quiet single track road, this house provides an ideal base to explore the area either on foot or in the car.
You can walk from the house towards the sea, stopping at the pre-historic hillfort of Dun Lagaidh, near Loggie, where remains of the medieval castle can still be seen. Towards the head of the loch takes you past the parish church and old burial ground at Clachan, and further along the pretty Strath More on the banks of the River Broom.
This area is perfect for nature lovers with an abundance of wild flowers, bird and wild life as well as star gazing on a clear night. For the more energetic guests, there are several Munros and Corbetts within a short drive, and many low level and coastal walks. There are ample opportunities for loch, sea and river fishing all near by. By car you can drive north passing through some of the best scenery in Scotland to see the white sandy beaches of Sutherland and rugged north coast, or the gentler coastline south towards Gairloch and Torridon
Rivington accommodates six very comfortably, with a large fully fitted and well equipped kitchen, and large lounge with picture windows with views towards Beinn Dearg, and a cosy wood burning stove. The separate dining room has patio doors leading to a decked patio area with garden table and seating. Downstairs also has a large double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with walk in shower making it suitable for disabled or elderly guests. Upstairs has two large twin bedrooms with ample cupboard space, a large bathroom with over the bath power-shower, and a bright reading area with reclining chair and a varied selection of books.
The village of Ullapool is about 20 minutes by car and has a leisure centre and swimming pool, two supermarkets, a petrol station, museum, and art gallery. There are many bars and pubs most of which serve food throughout the day.
