This is second time we have stayed here, and had really lovely time, but this time felt slightly disappointed with the cottage and I am not sure we would return. The cotttage on the whole was clean but the windows and mirrors were dirty and also their were cobwebs all over the property (velux window in kitchen) was thick with cobwebs. The outside of the cottage was scruffy and their was an old oven/fridge and door dumped in the garden. Also the owner need to replace the sofa. On the 2 occasions we have stayed, we have remarked at how uncomfortable and old it is. The cushions slip off onto the floor and you constatly have to re-make the sofa up with the 2 throws on it. If the sofa was changed and it was cleaned to a better standard, I would def return. i am not sure now it is value for money with other properties around. but little touches like the dog biscuits and towel are a nice touch. I hope you do pass these comments on.

A lovely welcoming cottage, especially liked the dog biscuits and dog towels - a nice suprise even though we came well prepared already. The cottage is very well stocked and has everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. However - please please please replace the sofa to something more comfortable (2 people sitting on it together and you just slide off) and remove the coffee table under the window (nest of tables is plenty) and get a folding dining table with 2 chairs - who wants to sit and have dinner on a bar stool staring into the kitchen? So sadly this spoilt it a little - otherwise a great place with great views. Bedroom is lovely and luxury bedding is understated, duvet and bedlinen are of the finest quality, didn't want to get up. January is a bit more difficult as most places are shut in the winter, but Skyeskins near Stein are open all year round and very welcoming and also offering tours of the tannery. Also highly recommend the local shop, which is superbly stocked considering its size and well worth supporting. Would definitly go back if they invested into new sofa and dining table.

A fairly isolated spot in the north west corner of Skye, the cottage is ideal if you want to 'escape' for a week of relaxation. The cottage itself is well equipped and furnished with a very nice, modern kitchen. The only minor point for improvement would be the possible shortcomings of the electric heaters in the cottage that didn't really adequately heat the house (although the weather during our stay was particularly cold and wet, even by Skye standards!). The log burner does help this although it's obviously not possible to have this on the whole time. Other than this minor point, we had a very nice relaxing week, despite the weather!

What a magical wee place to escape to! Colquhoune's Byre had everything we needed, from the wood burning stove and amazingly comfy bed, to a well stocked kitchen and useful walk books and information. We were a bit worried having read about the bungalow in front in previous reviews, however although it perhaps hides a small part of the view, it itself is well hidden behind hedges and there is still a wonderful view from the front of the Byre. The perfect place to get away from the world and relax!

Very well equipped and generous towels. Very comfortable bed with proper linen. Fantastic wood burning stove. Just a pity about the bungalow directly in front! A few more bin bags and loo roll could be provided.

The cottage was very comfortable and character filled. The bed was dreamy with a wonderful aroma of lavender. Very clean throughout although the bathroom could possibly do with a bit of a spruce up. If we had any complaint at all it was a lack of saucepans - although we managed fairly well using the microwave, we were unable to have our favourite boiled eggs! The views from the cottage were lovely and a number of walks were fairly close by. All in all the perfect place for a 'get away from it all' break.
