Price per week from £1200 to £2000 From the outside the Old Laundry appears to be a particularly appealing stone cottage but once inside there is a sense of gracious living and a much bigger house than you might expect. The large living room looks across the gorgeous gardens towards the hills and Loch More. An open fire makes this a truly stylish, traditional and welcoming house. The bedrooms are extremely comfortable – beds to sink into and crisp white linens so you are assured of a wonderful sleep in the peace of this stunning corner of Sutherland. The only sounds are the animals that inhabit this SSSi estate or the burn bubbling through the garden. The new kitchen is a wonderful spacious room complete with a walk in
chill room. A lovely sun room surrounds the building and there are
charming views across Loch More and to the mountains around. Nestled at
the entrance to Strath Stack, the well maintained garden is enchanting
with a burn running through it and in the autumn salmon spawn within
yards of the drawing room windows. The spacious drawing room with its
extremely comfortable furniture and antiques is made more welcoming with
a lovely open fire and provides the perfect setting in which to unwind
after a day outdoors. From here you are within easy striking distance of the cliffs and beaches of the north coast or you can explore the thousands of acres of wilderness that surround you. Whether a keen hill walker or a more modest walker, there is something for everyone here and you will be awed by the landscapes and luxury. The Old Laundry sits at the heart of the tiny hamlet of Achfary which, complete with its own traditionally built school is at the centre of the estate. Surrounding the house are thousands of acres of glorious wilderness and magnificent mountains and lochs – truly an extraordinary place. There is a myriad of wildlife on the estate from deer to eagles, otter and the rare black throated divers and much more. In season you can fish the hill lochs for brown trout and you can walk for miles and miles. Pristine beaches are nearby and you are only ½ hour away from the cliffs of the north at Cape Wrath. This is a wonderful house in what must be one of the most magnificent parts of Scotland. The attentive and knowledgeable estate staff can arrange wildlife viewing trips, both on the estate and in the estate’s fully equipped boats to Handa Island and the surrounding sea lochs if conditions permit. Luxurious picnics can be arranged in remote locations. If you love the landscapes and wilderness as well as a touch of luxury at the end of the day then this is for you! Accommodation
