The Grange offers an impressive Scottish island retreat for large gatherings all year round.  It is ideally situated with front-line panoramic sea views of the bay and Holy Isle, directly opposite a wide sandy beach, perfect for beachcombing and paddling.  Formerly a hotel, the present owner-artist has taken care to upgrade the property to a high standard to accommodate up to 13 guests in great style and comfort. It is spacious and well appointed with central heating and open fires.  A special feature is the spa room with sauna and jacuzzi. This self catering property is highly recommended for year-round breaks and a perfect holiday venue for large family gatherings.

The modern kitchen provides informal dining and is fully equipped to manage a large house party with a gas range and an American style fridge/freezer.  A passage leads off the kitchen to a separate formal dining room.

The gracious drawing room features a raised seating area with a bay window, an ideal place for gazing out to sea with a wee dram of Arran Malt.  To keep the peaceful atmosphere, there is a second lounge with a 32" TV for the children to enjoy. 

The first floor provides five elegant bedrooms, three with en-suite shower rooms; and there is a fabulous family bathroom with roll-top bath complete with chandelier. 

On the second floor there are two bedrooms and a mini spa with a sauna and jacuzzi bath.

Outside there is a garden with established flower borders and lawns overlooking the bay.  The sweeping gravel driveway provides plenty of space for parking.  Please note the garden is shared with the adjoining Peacock cottage.
The village has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and is self-contained with a useful range of small independent shops and services for easy living. Coast is a popular vibrant spot for morning coffee and also offers a lunch and dinner menu and take-away Friday fish & chips. The nearby Eden Lodge Hotel serves drinks and food.  For family entertainment, the Village Hall plays host to an eclectic range of local bands, visiting musicians and ceilidhs.

Next to The Grange, you will discover the Arran Art Gallery with an inspiring range of original artwork, limited edition prints, ceramics and glassware together with a pretty courtyard garden.

Whiting Bay boasts a long sandy beach with plenty of rock pools to explore at low tide.   You may enjoy a leisurely stroll along the beach to King’s Cross Point, a tranquil place opposite the Holy Isle or take the more demanding route south to Kildonan, but take care to check the tide times and return bus times before you set off.  Village amenities include a pitch & putt course, a children's play park and the beach is wide enough at low tide for a game of rounders.  High above the village you will find the 18-hole Whiting Bay Golf Club where visitors are very welcome.  

There are numerous good walks close by with forestry trails for mountain biking and walking, with circular trails to the spectacular Glenashdale Falls and the prehistoric burial chambers of Giant’s Graves.  Cycling is very popular on this hilly island and there are hire facilities in Brodick with mountain and road bikes for children and adults.  The Arran Bike Club website provides lots of information on recommended routes with free maps to download.

The Grange welcome families and adult parties – minimum age 25. However, this house is NOT suitable for stag or hen parties.

First Floor
Bedroom 1:  Master with king-size bed and en-suite shower with whb and wc.   Bedroom 2:  Double bedroom (+ cot) with sea views, en-suite shower with whb and wc. Bedroom 3:  Double bedroom with sea views, en-suite shower, whb and wc. Bedroom 4:  Twin/Double bedroom overlooking the rear garden (twin beds can be zipped together to form a double bed).  Bedroom 5: Single bed.  Family bathroom with roll-top bath, whb and wc.

Second Floor
Bedroom 6:  Double bedroom with whb.  Bedroom 7:  Twin bedroom. Shower room with wc.  Separate wc with whb. Newly refurbished (Feb-13) Spa room with sauna, Jacuzzi bath and separate shower cubicle.

Enclosed garden (gated) shared with adjoining Peacock Cottage.  Gravel driveway provides parking for 2/3 cars.  Lawns and flower borders.  Garden furniture.

With a stunning natural environment, the island is a paradise for walkers, cyclists and golfers.  There are high level mountain walks for the more experienced, miles of forestry trails and the Arran Coastal Way, a continuous 100k route.  You can also follow circular paths to discover ancient sites, including the Standing Stones at Machrie Moor and King's Caves near Blackwaterfoot.  Brodick Castle & Country Park offers a programme of guided walks in the summer months.  The Country Park has a number of woodland trails, including The Duchess Bathing Pools and a sculpture trail in Merkland Wood created by a renowned local artist, Tim Pomeroy.
