This splendid Regency mansion, built in 1810, has wonderful architectural features which have been carefully restored, and a five star rating.

Granite-built Cortes House makes an immediate impression thanks to the alabaster-white hallway with stained-glass, interior windows and the Cortes coat of arms adorning the cornicing. The inner hall has timber stairs leading to the elegant, galleried first and second floor landings, which are flooded with light thanks to a cupola above the second storey.

The crisp, white theme and timber floors continue throughout the public rooms and symmetrical hallways. The interior is modern, simple and uncluttered, yet sympathetic to the architecture. Details in the elaborate cornices have been carefully picked out to feature in the soft furnishings and the white walls form a perfect backdrop for a collection of contemporary art. The large master bedroom has a king size four poster bed with fantastic views over the front lawn and an en-suite with jacuzzi bath. The individually designed bedrooms feature elegant drapes at the windows and most have beautifully tiled en-suites.

The house is set in five acres of mostly woodland, with a children's playground and secluded garden. Cortes House is an ideal base for exploring the north east coastline, bird watching and cycling and makes a perfect setting for large family gatherings or weddings.
