Persie House is the perfect rural idyll, a wonderful house engulfed in peaceful tranquillity and surrounded by the beautiful Perthshire countryside. When approached from the front drive this enchanting Edwardian country house with its turreted facade, emerges through the trees with a welcoming grandeur. With lawns and sweeping herbaceous borders to the left and the glimpse of a tennis court through the mature woodlands to the right, there is a feeling time has stood still here and never more so than when stepping into the magnificent wood panelled entrance hall where there is a real sense of Edwardian splendour. The drawing room, with its open fire and large bay window over looking the garden, has a comfortable elegance, whilst the study provides a cosy retreat in which to spend some quiet time sitting in front of a roaring log fire. The dining room, which can comfortably seat eighteen, is a fabulous setting for candlelit dining whether it be a formal dinner or more relaxed family meals, and then retire to the games/function room to play table tennis or move back the furniture and dance the night away. With ten comfortable and traditionally furnished bedrooms to choose from and a handy dormitory sleeping five – ideal for children - this is the ultimate hideaway whether for larger parties or more intimate gatherings.
There is a wide variety of things to do and see in this area. Activities range from climbing and walking with many Munros within easy reach, to the more leisurely pursuit of fishing for brown trout at the bottom of the garden. Ski slopes are 10 miles to the north whilst golfers can enjoy the numerous golf courses in the area including the championship courses of Rosemount (15mins drive) and Carnoustie (45mins drive). With Glamis Castle, Scone Palace and Balmoral Castle all within an hours drive, this house is an ideally central location from which to see the true diversity of the Scottish Highlands, from rugged wilderness of the Cairngorms to the sophistication of Scotland’s major cities all within two hours drive.
Closer to home guests may wish to fish for salmon on the Blackwater River or spend the day in the boat of one of Persie’s lochs surrounded by swans moorhen and coots, trying to outwit the wild brown trout. Shooting and stalking can also be arranged locally. Or simply enjoy wandering round the grounds, watch the red squirrels or catch a glimpse of a roe deer, and fill your lungs full of fresh Scottish air.
