This is a simply wonderful B listed Georgian Manse with fabulous facilities and a stunning garden set atop beautiful rolling countryside with cattle grazing in the fields around and enjoying views over the Firth of Clyde to Ailsa Craig and the mountains of Arran. The House of Craigie is very special and from the moment you reach the bottom of the tree lined drive and see the meticulously built drystone walls, you realise this is a particularly lovely holiday house.
Everything has been thought of and the beautiful finish, furniture and colours reflect the fact it is a family home of the highest quality. The bedrooms are beautifully presented and have a luxurious country house feel with perfectly proportioned Georgian rooms. There is masses of public space with a bright, gracious, formal drawing room, a large family/TV room and a great games room with table tennis and pool table. A good sized kitchen has been well designed for catering for large numbers being fully equipped with a wonderful Aga and situated next to the large dining room which seats 14. However, families will no doubt want to enjoy the wonderful indoor swimming pool complete with its own shower rooms, patio and views across the delightful garden. Meanwhile you can enjoy a game or two of tennis on the all weather court agaion with dedicated playing times for the house or simply sit in the beautiful garden or summer house and enjoy the views, wildlife and birdsong.
This beautiful Ayrshire house is a rural delight but you are within easy reach of a multitude of activities. Troon is 15 minutes with its championship golf course, Royal Troon, municipal golf courses and beaches, Prestwick airport is 10 minutes and the vibrant city of Glasgow is 30 minutes drive. This is Burns country so enjoy the history of Scotland’s Bard with a visit to Robert Burns National Heritage Park 20 minutes and do make a visit to Culzean Castle, the National Trust’s flagship. House of Craigie also offers a unique opportunity to guests – a day trip on the owners’ Scottish designed and built classic 50’ yacht (this is by arrangement from Spring 2010) to take you closer to the beauty of the islands and wildlife, gannets, seals, perhaps even dolphins, on the Firth of Clyde. This is a great house both inside and out and a perfect spot for families. For larger parties there are 5 holiday cottages nearby (due for completion Spring 2010) which sleep 2 (+2 on sofa bed).
