The House on the Shore must be everyone’s dream of a perfect seaside holiday house. Step from this lovely house, take a few steps across the stone flags and you are on the beach where you can walk for miles and enjoy all that this area of outstanding natural beauty has to offer. This lovely house is only rarely available and is a perfect place for a special occasion such as a wedding.
House on the Shore was built as a Dower House for the Arbigland Estate; built in 1936, it is breathtakingly beautiful and recent refurbishment of the house makes it a very special place indeed. Furnished with fine antiques and paintings, the house is extremely comfortable and yet it retains a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere and a friendly usability with its glorious views across the Solway Firth and its pretty lawns. The large new kitchen/family room/ dining room is a perfect place to relax whilst the more formal drawing rooms and dining hall are ideal for more formal occasions. A delight in both summer and winter, for there are open fires and double glazed doors and windows. The lawns beside the sea are perfect for a romantic wedding or a peaceful retreat.
There are historical connections with Scotland’s much loved Bard Robert Burns and the famous American naval hero John Paul Jones was born in this area. The coastline is very pretty and views across to the Lake District Mountains are second to none. There is plenty of golf in the area as well as numerous walks, biking tracks and pretty seaside villages to explore.
