Dallas Lodge is a stunning family home that is much loved by its owners. Built in the late 17th century by Sir Robert Gordon of Gordonstoun, the large holiday Lodge stands in the 10,000 acre Dallas Estate located along the meandering River Lossie and is conveniently only eight miles from the ancient market towns of Elgin and Forres. The family of George Mifflin Dallas, a vice president of the USA and founder of Dallas, Texas, can be traced back to Dallas, Moray.
This warm inviting lodge has been tastefully and practically furnished. The accommodation includes a formal yet cosy chocolate coloured dining room with tartan curtains that is kept warm by a wonderful log fire. The charming drawing room also has a large traditional log fire with French windows that open onto the very attractive front lawns and colourful borders. The kitchen and breakfast room overlook the beautiful rose garden and every bedroom has a wash hand basin, electric blankets and lovely antique furnishings. The property is surrounded by impressive diverse gardens which guests will enjoy wondering around, the pond is perfect for boating and provides hours of entertainment and on top of this Dallas Lodge boasts both a croquet lawn and a tennis court.
For fishermen there is a private beat available on the River Lossie which flows through the estate and tickets can also be obtained for the Association water. Salmon fishing is also available on the nearby famous Rivers Spey and Findhorn and this can be arranged via the usual letting agents. Lovely secluded sandy beaches harbour the Moray coast with sheltered coves and fishing ports all waiting to be explored.
