This welcoming family home is set in impressive gardens, overlooking the River Lossie and a 2,500 acre mixed agricultural and sporting estate. Moray enjoys a milder and dryer climate than the west (and with fewer bugs!) and is a perfect base for exploring whisky-kissed Speyside, enjoying wonderful golf courses (Boat of Garten & Grantown on Spey) and learning to fish. This is Scotland in miniature with quiet sandy beaches, hills, heather moors and fast flowing rivers.
Constructed in 1916 and Grade A-listed, Kellas House is one of the finest examples of a country house from the 'Arts and Crafts' era. Its owners have lovingly retained features such as the two 17th century Dutch-tiled fireplaces and the tiled kitchen. The spacious sun room, added in 2004, is a lovely addition to the house offering a warm and sunny haven for guests. Why not throw open the wide doors and spill onto the gardens for a barbecue and games on the expansive lawn? Guests will appreciate the continental-sized double beds and the sociable farmhouse-style kitchen.
Kellas House is just 20 minutes from the Moray Firth beaches and from Scotland's smallest city, Elgin, with its ruined castle, cathedral, restored 18th century townhouses, heritage centre and award-winning museum. Also a short drive away is the Royal Burgh of Forres with its award-winning floral sculptures. Fishing and sporting packages, including pheasant and grouse shooting, and roe stalking can be arranged.
