Ormidale House is a truly magnificent, beautifully maintained historic house surrounded by an impressive 20 acres of mainly wooded private grounds. This beautiful large holiday house is just above the Kyles of Bute, and has its own lochan, river, and waterfalls making it an utterly unique location. Ormidale has been available to rent for two seasons now and it is not hard to see why it is one of the most popular holiday properties we have. This spectacular large house was built in 1696, with a wing designed by Sir Robert Lorimer added in 1900, and was once a seat of the Clan Campbell.
The property boasts excellent accommodation with a full size snooker room, a play room, two TV rooms, a breakfast room, a dining hall which seats 24, and a formal dining room with an open fire. For really large parties or guests who want some added privacy the cottage next door may be available to groups taking the main house and provides further accommodation for six people. Ormidale House is perfectly suited for large parties and offers a luxurious break in stunning surroundings. The garden and grounds are the work of the renowned Victorian landscape gardener Thomas Mawson of Kendal and include extensive lawns, shrubbed terraces, and a lovely south-facing sun terrace. Guests can walk for an hour within the house's own gardens, and have direct access into the forests and onto the mountains you don’t even have to get into a car as the surrounding countryside is so wonderfully diverse and incredibly is all on your doorstep. A variety of outdoor sports of the highest quality including sailing, fishing, shooting, and stalking are available locally.
The house comes with the added convenience of a dozen bikes, four sets of golf clubs, fishing rods, and other outdoor equipment so you don’t have to bring your own. The large garden has been extremely well thought out and features an outdoor children's play area, ideal for small children to play safely in, a large trampoline, croquet lawn, separate football pitch, BBQ and midge machine! This marvellous property also has access to a swimming pool, the pool is shared with residents of the Old Barn and the Mill House, however guests in the main house have two hours of exclusive use during the day and access for all bar three hours.
