Overlooking the Tay Valley where the River Tay gently winds its way down, Farleyer Lodge enjoys beautiful views across the scenic Perthshire countryside. Once a Dower House for Castle Menzies and then a luxurious country house hotel, today the west wing of this charming property provides excellent holiday accommodation for a family holiday. Most of the bedrooms are found on the first floor, they are fantastically spacious and retain their original furnishings; the many varied en suite bathrooms are finished to a high standard with excellent facilities. The majority of the all en suite bedrooms enjoy superb views over the gardens and the valley. On the second floor there are two further bedrooms, these are slightly less spacious but the coombed ceilings add to their character and charm and they are extremely comfortably furnished. These bedrooms share a bathroom and would be ideally suited for older children or a young family as they would give them more privacy. The large lounge with its welcoming open log fire is complemented by the delightful dining room.
Whilst retaining many of the traditional features of the property through the ages the house successfully combines the traditional with the new and the aptly named media room with its 42 inch plasma TV, surround sound, DVD player and Sky channels is testament to this. This room also has a variety of board games to amuse the younger generation in the evenings or on days that the weather lets you down! The generous well equipped kitchen has a large gas cooker and a small dining area perfect for informal meals.
Strathtay is famous for its natural beauty and the magical golden valley makes this a unique and idyllic setting. There is much to do in the area and the attractive town of Aberfeldy which has very good shops and facilities is a mere 5 minutes drive away. The House of Menzies offers delicious lunches and has a wide selection of New World Wines.
This large holiday house is ideally situated for families or friends to explore and enjoy this wonderful part of Scotland and the house itself allows guests to relax and unwind in a welcoming and very comfortable atmosphere.
