Activities: The Cowal Peninsula is a very popular area for walkers, cyclists, golfers, fishermen and sailors as well as those who are simply looking to get away from it all and relax in peace. The chalet is within close walking distance of Sandy Bay where hours of fun can be enjoyed on this lovely south facing beach. There are many local activities available for all ages including the nearby outdoor experience at Quadmania where you can chose from quad biking, archery, clay shooting and a range of adventure pursuits. Cowal is home to several beautiful gardens including Ardkinglas Woodland Garden and the 150 acre Benmore Botanic Gardens. There are also many day trips to enjoy including Inveraray Castle, home to the Duke of Argyll, the famous Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, & Dunoon’s Castle House Museum. During the summer cruises are available on The Waverley (the last seagoing paddle steamer in the world) and at the end of August Dunoon hosts the Cowal Gathering which incorporates highland games, traditional dancing and pipe band competitions.
