Situated in Crail’s Marketgate, once the largest medieval market place in Europe, this holiday house is a delightful example of the traditional architecture in the East Neuk of Fife. Originally two cottages built on top each other this quirky house has two front doors, one with an outside “forestair”. Comfortably furnished and full of character, the lower floor has a large sitting room and bedroom leading out to a charming private south facing garden, the ideal suntrap for relaxing in, whilst the upper floor has another bedroom, a dining room, bathroom and a small kitchen, making this holiday house a fantastic base for exploring all the East Neuk of Fife has to offer.
With quaint little fishing villages where white washed houses with red pantiled roofs huddle round bustling harbours, this area of Fife is not only picturesque but has lots for the visitor to see and do. Crail is home to two lovely golf courses and the Crail Golf Society is the seventh oldest in the world. With the world-class golf courses of St Andrews and Kingsbarns are only a short drive away and another 38 courses to choose from in Fife, golfers will be in heaven. Visit The National Trust for Scotland’s Kellie Castle, Falkland Palace, Hill of Tarvit Mansion House or Culross Palace and get a real sense of the ancient Kingdom of Fife’s history or enjoy the wonderful scenery of rugged cliffs and beautiful stretches of beach as you stroll along the Fife Coastal Path. Crail Pottery, where this family run business produces a diverse range of stoneware and brightly coloured earthenware, is a delight, or visit the Secret Bunker, a fascinating reminder of the Cold War – built in the 1950’s it could accommodate 300 in event of a nuclear war.
