Occupying the principle first floor rooms of the historic St Conan’s Tower, Glen Strae apartment, formerly part of the owners accommodation, has been newly released to provide luxurious holiday accommodation ideally suited for a couple or family wishing to discover this tranquil and picturesque area of Argyll.
This impressive 19th Century Scottish tower house, built of granite from Cruachan Mountain, enjoys a prominent yet peaceful position on an eminence of land above the friendly loch-side village of Lochawe. Set within elevated woodland and surrounded by a large private garden, the house enjoys outstanding panoramic views across the waters of Loch Awe to the romantic islands and stunning mountains beyond.
Glen Strae has been sympathetically improved to provide attractive and comfortable accommodation yet retains its unique traditional atmosphere with split levels, high ceilings, tall sash windows, traditional cornicing and fireplaces - architecturally typical of a Scottish tower house. The wonderfully large drawing room and adjacent private library with its sumptuous furnishings and baby grand piano allows you to truly spread out and relax while absorbing its 100-year history. The attractive and generous main bedroom benefits from linking beds creating either a luxurious super king or twin beds. A further twin bedroom is accessed through the main bedroom making it ideal for a family and the newly fitted open plan kitchen/dining room has been equipped with everything you could need for an outstanding self-catered holiday.
Guests can also enjoy the magical tower lounge at the very top of the house - reached by the original turnpike staircase, this charming conservatory style area gives amazing views over Loch Awe and to the fairytale ruins of Kilchurn Castle.
