Rarely do you have the opportunity to enjoy as glorious an historic house as Gunsgreen! Perched above the busy and fascinating working fishing harbour of Eyemouth, Gunsgreen House is newly renovated following a community project supported by funding from the Lottery and organisations such as Historic Scotland.
Inside this beautiful house, you have sole access to the top two floors of what is an architectural gem with its fine Georgian proportions, glorious original features such as cornicing, panelling and fireplaces. The ground and lower ground floors are home to the new museum where you have the chance to learn more about this wonderful house and its history. Even more exciting for the younger members are the secret hidey-holes where the original owners of the house hid the smuggled goods that made their fortunes. Tea was the source for the infamous Nisbet smugglers and secret cubby holes abound throughout the house. The house is furnished and presented to a wonderful standard so you will enjoy a splendid stay here. There is a lift to the first floor of the apartment.
The views from the house are wonderful with the busy harbour, the delightful town of Eyemouth and beyond to the sea. There is much to do locally where you can stroll along the jetty to the town for good food, shopping and award winning local ice-cream or you can actively enjoy the local diving centre, rent a boat for fishing, enjoy fantastic walks or just explore this lovely Border region and coastline.
Gunsgreen House is extremely special and for larger parties you can also take the Nisbet Tower for two people. Situated nearby is the original Doocot for the house, now converted to a one bedroom holiday house.
