The beautiful Isle of Arran has been a favourite holiday destination for many years.
Arran is a small island, 20 miles long and 56 miles round, located off the south-west coast of Scotland. Palm trees grow here in the mild climate thanks to the Gulf Stream and it has many picturesque villages.
There is a multitude of wildlife to be seen from whales and seals in the sea to deer and birdlife on the island. There are also numerous activities from excellent golf courses to extreme sports, mountain biking, fishing and walking.
Situated in the Firth of Clyde it is like Scotland in miniature with beautiful beaches, charming fishing villages, rolling hills and farmland and wilder mountainous areas. Steeped in history with records going back to a long period of Viking domination in the 800's there is much to see and do in Arran.
Do go and see the stunning Brodick Castle run by the National Trust for Scotland.
The regular ferry service from Ardrossan, is a wonderful atmospheric start to your holiday and allows you to take your own car to enjoy exploring this lovely island.
