Inner Hebrides

The beautiful island of Tiree is a mere 10 miles long and 4 miles wide with a population of only 800 but manages to pack a lot of delight into this small space. One of the sunniest places in the UK, it is exposed to the Atlantic along its western shore making it popular with surfers and indeed it is the venue for a world championship event every year. Tiree  has many gorgeous, deserted white sand beaches, ideal for days out, walks and birdwatching. The famous machair with its numerous wild flower displays hosts a colourful display through Spring and summer. Dotted around the island are many original crofts, some with thatched roof, some stone built, others whitewashed but all utterly charming to the eye. All in all the island of Tiree is absolutely wonderful – a perfect quiet spot to relax and unwind and a place that has certainly earned its reputation as a site of outstanding natural beauty.
