Description

It is a rare delight to be able to enjoy a beautiful private castle home such as this. Airlie Estates cover 30,000 acres of the stunning Angus Glens and Airlie Castle itself enjoys a dramatic and prime position with tumbling rivers below on three sides. This area of Angus is simply beautiful and this family home is steeped in history. Whilst perfectly secluded, the castle is a mere 20 minutes from the coast and has easy access to golf courses such as Carnoustie, St Andrews or nearby Rosemount at Blairgowrie. In the large walled garden, for the energetic, there is a tennis court, a grassy area with football goal post, miles of walks, trout and salmon fishing and nearby stalking is available by arrangement.

As you travel down the tree lined drive you know you are about to see something special and Airlie is captivating and impressive. Inside, this house has a real charm and atmosphere with vaulted ceilings and numerous original features yet it retains a warmth and welcome not often found in big castles. The bedrooms sleep 14 – including a wonderful 4 poster but note that one bedroom may suit children best as it contains 3 single beds. There is a cottage adjoining the main castle that can sleep 4 and would be ideal for extra capacity or for staff - included in rent.

This is a “proper” castle – full of heritage and history and a glorious place to be. It is a wonderful holiday spot and comes complete with 3 hours housekeeping a day. It can be offered as fully catered by arrangement. The castle is also available for weddings and is an enchanting venue. Details on request.

    Airlie Castle reviews
The castle is a very special place ,combining relaxation and a fantastic venue for a very special celebration . My family enjoyed every moment from relaxation in the library to laughter in the snooker room . Watching my grandchildren playing the musical instruments in accompaniment to their parents playing the piano created such wonderful memories . The estate staff ensured our stay was relaxing. My daughters 21st birthday was a very memorable event made so special by our stay at the castle.
    Mrs Smart - May 2017
This venue was so different. The tennis, snooker, table tennis, football pitch and drum set kept the active members of the families happy. The river Isla circuiting the castle was an added bonus. The walled garden was amazing. We loved the novelty of finding all the cupboards and bedrooms , still full with the Family's belongings! The housekeeper was super and so too the outside staff. We had a great time. We felt that the kitchen could do with a decent dishwasher, to cope with a dozen guests. Also a kitchen weighing scales and a knife steel would have helped. This in no way detracted from a fantastic stay in a wonderful castle
    Mr Wooding - August 2016
We had the most wonderful time. The castle was warm and comfortable and retained so much character. We really felt at home. Dot the housekeeper is absolutely the best thing about the castle. She made the whole two days go amazingly well and was able to accommodate our every need. Had such a wonderful 50th Birthday, would love to have stayed longer.
    Mr & Mrs Collison - February 2016
We loved everything about our stay at Airlie Castle; beautiful, comfortable, great location, facilities, grounds, gardens, nearby attractions and activites and the wonderful and vey helpful housekeeper. Could not recommend this enough! We also enjoyed unusually excellent weather for Scotland, making it a perfect holiday in every way
