The cottage has been lovingly decorated in keeping with its surroundings. It retains gorgeous period features, is snug with pretty furnishings and antiques, and the rooms are airy and light-filled, bringing the wide, sweeping atmosphere of the landscape in.

There's a huge dollop of countryside to enjoy within this private estate, with fishing, bird watching, and wild walks right on your doorstep. Explore the heather-strewn climbs or take a walk through the woods - you can build your own Highland story in these grounds.

From here, the splendour of the Highlands unfolds over mile upon mile of undulating countryside. Fish for wild brown trout or salmon in the nearby lochs. Or head to the coast where the Cromarty Firth dramatically meets the sea. A 30-mile journey brings you to Cromarty Lighthouse and its surrounding wildlife habitats, and it's just 13 miles to the lovely Highland town of Alness, where you can browse independent shops, nip into the local pub for a pint, or check out the heritage centre for a dose of Highland history and culture.

For even more town life, head to Inverness, a scenic drive of 32 miles across two famous firths. Here, you'll discover art galleries, museums, quaint shops and historical sites that will give you a whole new perspective on Scotland, all within the backdrop of this astonishing natural landscape. You could even set off on a paddling adventure, along the Great Glen Canoe Trail, which snakes for 22 miles along a man-made canal system.

Amazing location but beware of the road into the estate - currently in a really bad state with almost unpassable pot holes - not for the faint hearted. If you want peace, quiet, scenery to die for then this is the place.
