Unwind in the Scottish countryside at an idyllic retreat in Dumfries and Galloway. Located in a rural hamlet amongst a small selection of properties, this well-thought-out family holiday home is the perfect base for your outdoor adventure holiday. The spacious cottage happily sleeps eight guests and two dogs, perfect for an extended family or two smaller groups, while two further cottages close by sleep an additional four guests.

The property has been decorated with pure comfort in mind, creating the perfect homely atmosphere in every room. This farmhouse-style home offers plenty of spacious rooms, giving everybody plenty of space to rest and unwind. Pastel colours are used to create calming bedrooms, and the living room has a neutral decor which creates a cosy space to enjoy in the evenings. The rural location ensures wonderful far-reaching views from every window.

After a long day of exploring the local area, come home to the spacious sitting room where an abundance of seating options offer a great space to kick back in front of the Sky TV. You may, however, prefer to unwind in the charming conservatory, where you can sit with a good book or enjoy looking out for the local wildlife around you. Meals can be both prepared and enjoyed in the open-plan kitchen/diner, a lovely space where you can keep the cook company as dinner is made. Creating an evening meal or packed lunches for the day ahead will be no issue in this spacious room, and an electric range oven makes cooking easy. Separate to the kitchen, you’ll find a handy little utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and sink, the perfect spot for storing muddy boots and outdoor equipment.

Head upstairs to find all four bedrooms: two double bedrooms offer comfortable sleeping spots for the parents of the group, both well equipped with plenty of space to store all your holiday clothes. A further twin bedroom is the perfect spot for younger siblings or cousins enjoying an exciting sleepover. The final bedroom is a cosy single with a sloped ceiling and skylight, making a lovely room for one, or for two children with the use of the pull-out trundle bed.

A generous garden is situated to the rear of the property, with plenty of enclosed lawn space offering a secure place for children or pets to play. Enjoy drinks on the patio or dine alfresco on the garden furniture on warm summer evenings as the sun goes down.

Lovely comfortable farmhouse. We appreciated the dog exercise area and the dog secure garden as well being able to use the washer. Just come back from a Week stay at Bartaggart farmhouse . A group of 8 of us from 11 years old and four adults . We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and the cottage was off the beaten track as expected and surrounded by beautiful countryside . The cottage itself was lovely and the hosts friendly . I would go again .

The farmhouse is an ideal location for dog owners who wants to get away from it all but others may find its isolation and the long drives too much.

A spacious cottage with amazing views. The enclosed garden is perfect for children and dogs. Owners were helpful when needed but gave us our privacy. The area is beautiful. We had a lovely day in the Galloway Forest Country Park enjoying the Red Deer Range and the Wild Goat Park. ( A bag of carrots is a must?) We also had a great visit to the Red KRead moreite Feeding Station, there must have been over 100 birds that came. A lovely cottage in a good location. Hide

Excellent place for a get away from it all holiday. Our 7 year old and 4 year old twins loved the donkeys and running around in the grassy garden.

We had a fantastic time. The owners were most welcoming, and offered early check in and late check out. The property was very well equipped, and there was tea/coffee/milk/bread to welcome us. There were enormously cute 2 donkeys (bring carrots :) just outside, and we enjoyed a local walk for 2 hrs, and drove 30 min to Kippford for a beach walk.
