    Boatmans Cottage reviews
The setting is truly idyllic and did not disappoint in any way. Having to pay for the electricity on top of the cottage hire was a down side. Beds were comfy and the linen provided was nice and fresh. The cottage did need a good clean. It was generally shabby and well worn inside. There was no support in the sofa. It was uncomfortable to sit on. The open fire grate had totally burnt through and it was not safe to burn logs or coal. Had to use the electric fire. Outside needs a bit of TLC and tidying up around the patio... For paying guests!
Owners Response: "Thank you for your feedback, we’re truly sorry that our cottage did not fully meet your expectations on this occasion. We take great care in maintaining Boatmans in a presentable manner, in keeping with the idyllic surroundings at Loch Awe and believe it offers exceptional value for money. Your comment regarding cleaning will be taken up with our cleaner, though externally we can only apologise for the state of the lawns which had been missed that week owing to the gardener having injured his foot. The damage to the fire grate is noted, thank you, a replacement is on order and will be in place well before the cooler weather sets in. Again we appreciate your feedback which is always valuable to us."

Boatmans cottage is a lovely accomodation where nothing is missing. The landscapes around are beautiful and there are a lot of places to visit : Oban, Glencoe, Seil, Kilmartin, the coasts wher you can walk, the forests, and also the Loch Awe which is a wonderful place to meditate, rest and walk. The owner is a very nice person.
    Mrs Salmon - August 2016
When booking the cottage off the internet it looked just too good to be true. It was not. It was stunning. An old crofters cottage beautifully renovated witha lovely garden running down to the lochside. Red squirrels came every morning to eat nuts off the bird table. Birds of prey soared over the loch or sat on fence posts at dusk. We fished off the jetty (2mins walk from our door to the jetty) and we caught 3 pike! (I have never caught a fish in my life before). The scenery was spectacular even in the rain so the weather mattered not. The cottage had everything you could possibly need. An open fire as well as storage heaters made it so cosy. If you want supermarkets and a pub next door, you'll be disappointed so go prepared. However, 15 mins away in Dalavich (a tiny village) there is a wooden timbered cafe come post office come general store which sells everything you might need. It also has a licence to sell alcahol, so you can have a bottle of beer or wine in cosy surroundings. They are only open 10am until 4pm but 7 days a week. The locals meet there for a brew and a chat... lovely. Also a bar/grill on a log cabin site next door open Thursday to Sunday.
    Mrs Lennox-moore - July 2016
Cottage clean and tidy, with a great aspect. Would have given a 5 if electricity had been included in price.
    Mrs Baines - August 2013
Look no further - Boatmans Cottage was peaceful, secluded, in a beautiful setting & just perfect. We had a lovely time and the sun even shone for us. It's a great place to take your dog too. The bed was comfy, the kitchen fully equiped and the bathroom, well lets just say there is room for 2 in that bath! Highly recommended by us. Thank you we loved it.
    Miss Hood - May 2013
Lovely cottage ideal for anyone who has their own boat and enjoys fishing for pike or trout as it comes with its own fishing rights. The pine martin, who likes jam sandwiches is a frequent visitor with plenty of deer in the surrounding area. Lovely walks through the forest by the village picnic area. Suggest The George Hotel, Invererary is worth a visit the food is excellent and real open fires. Invererary is well worth a visit as it is the home of the Duke of Argyle whose castle is nearby with lovely grounds.
    Mrs Rooks - October 2012
A beautifully situated cottage with stunning views and the opportunity to spot a lot wildlife. During our stay we saw a kingfisher, deers and a pine marten (the latter from the comfort of our living room!) Ideal for dogs with the loch just a very short walk down the hill from the cottage and a large variety of walks nearby. So ideal for walkers and cyclists. This cottage is perfect for a quiet, relaxing time totally undisturbed. The coal fire is also a great finishing touch!
    Miss Child - September 2012
Cottage is very well equipped and fantastic location on Loch Awe. Could be good for you children although garden is not fenced.
    Byrne - August 2012
Boatmans Cottage is the most perfect place to relax and unwind, far away from everything offering the best surroundings and spectacular views across the Loch, totally secluded. The cottage was comfortable, clean and had eveything you need for a comfortable break inc washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, sky t.v and wi-fi (reception a little hit and miss!) By far the best place we have stayed in and we would deffinately recommend it, we left the teenagers at home as they are not the outdoors type but the dogs loved it. We hope to return soon.
    Mrs Corran - April 2012
The owners were very accommodating and thoughtful when we had a power cut. The cottage was an excellent location, quiet and pretty and very well equipped. If we were not emigrating, I would definitely want to return.
    Mrs Hubert - March 2012
Boatmans cottage is in a stunning location and the cottage itself was equipped with everything you would ever need.A perfect spot to relax and unwind from the normal daily working routine!
    Mr Deering - September 2011
The cottage was in a very pleasant secluded location. The decor and facilities were basic, no frills, but comfortable and it was very clean. The track to the house needs care if your car has a low suspension!
    Miss Hepplestone - September 2011
A superb little hide-away on the shores of Loch Awe. Compact, but very comfortable and very cosy. The cottage was clean and well presented with an array of fittings, such as a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave etc, to make the stay very easy and enjoyable. If you enjoy getting away from the crowds and being surrounded by absolute silence, then this is the place for you.
