Enjoy glorious views over Whiting Bay to the Holy Isle from the patio of this pretty cottage on the eastern edge of the Isle of Arran.

Perched on its own little hillock, this cosy cottage is perfect for small families, with a large grassy garden edged by a burn and superb panoramic sea views.

The house is arranged on one level, with rooms leading off a central hallway where there’s plenty of space to hang coats and leave bags. On wet days or after a good day exploring, bring the gang in through the useful porch and leave sandy outdoor gear there, or get it straight in the washing machine in the utility room.

The living room is especially welcoming, with a dual aspect boasting beautiful sea views – sit back in the little bay window and use the binoculars to watch wildlife or spot boats in the bay, or on colder evenings, turn on the electric fire and cosy up in front of the TV. The compact kitchen includes everything you’ll need to keep the family fed, and even has a dishwasher to make clearing up a breeze; with a separate dining room with seats for six, dinner can be a part of your precious family time. With two comfortable bedrooms, one double and one twin, plus a bathroom with a shower and a bath, you’ll settle right into this lovely home.

Outside, older kids will love exploring the wraparound garden edged by a burn and livestock fencing, and there’s room enough for a game of cricket or football too. Younger kids will need to be supervised, but will love a spot of hill-rolling down the many grassy slopes or a game of hide and seek.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 double, 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC
  • Oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer
  • TV with Freeview
  • USB ports in bedroom & living room
  • Private garden with garden furniture and BBQ
  • Off-road parking for 2 cars
  • Please note that the garden is bounded by a small burn and livestock fencing but is not fully enclosed – therefore small children and dogs must be supervised.
  • Please note – property is not wheelchair accessible
  • No gate across driveway
  • Short Term Let License - NA00385F
  • EPC rating – G
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £25. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

It's just 300 metres down the hill to the shores of Whiting Bay and the village, which has a nice art gallery to browse on rainy days, and a few eateries dotted along the coast road offering some tasty homemade goodies, and nice views over the bay. The sand and pebble beach stretches for a mile at low tide and its shallow waters are perfect for younger children to paddle and beachcomb safely. Whiting Bay Golf Club is 150 metres along the road from the house for any keen golfers, and there's a clubhouse on-site with a snack menu too for those who prefer to spectate.

There are plenty of walks in the local area, from strolls along the coast – it's about 2 miles to Kingcross Point for a fantastic view across to Holy Island – to forest hikes like the 3-mile circular walk up to Glenashdale Falls and the Giant's Graves. For older families, there is a whole range of more challenging trails locally, including the King's Cave circuit near Blackwaterfoot, a 3-mile walk from the hills down to the craggy shoreline, and a steep climb up to the top of Holy Island with a pleasant shoreline return, totalling around 4 miles.

Dunollie is superb! It is in a beautiful location with lovely views. It is very well appointed and probably the best equipped cottage that we have ever stayed at. We had a wonderful time. We really enjoyed our stay at Dunollie. It was clean, had everything you need for a comfortable stay and is perfectly located to enjoy everything Arran has to offer. Our dogs loved playing in the garden. Being able to see Holy Isle appear and disappear in the mist from the cottage, was a fabulous surprise. We also enjoyed visiting bunnies and the rRead moreed squirrel. Lovely cottage and a bottle of wine waiting, a lovely touch. Would definitely book again as its location is within easy access to the ferry, lots of dog walking in the area without having to use the car. We were very happy with Dunollie. Good location, very private, close to the sea (a brief but steep walk to get back to the cottage) and lovely walks nearby, to the hills and waterfall. Nice Cottage and location overall. However, Fully enclose the garden (make it more dog friendly) There was dirty bedding left in the property upon our arrival and we had to wait a further 2 hours+ for this to be sorted. Clean bedding wasnt already on the beds and this also had to b sorted.
