Gaze over breathtaking loch-side views from the comfort of the bubbling hot tub at this picture-perfect cottage, 8 miles from Fort William.

Your very own slice of lochside living, in a beautiful Scottish cottage, this property sits between the mighty rise of Ben Nevis and the stunning Glencoe, overlooking the open stretch of water over to the Isle of Mull. It’s a truly inspiring retreat for a family after a bit of rural adventure in the Highlands.

The house is a single-storey cottage, sitting on a lovely plot of grass by the shore of Loch Linnhe. It’s been beautifully presented, with lush planting in the garden, a sweet patio, and rooms with chic, modern decor, and calming tones with pops of colour.

Begin in the cosy, spacious sitting room. Comfy sofas sit around the TV and double aspect windows bring plenty of light into the space. Head through into your family kitchen, a big, bright space with modern design and all the equipment you need to create hearty Scottish dinners for the group. Beside the dining table, you can even head out through a pair of French doors onto the decked patio area. The bedrooms — a double and two twins — are all cosy and bright, each with its own colour theme and delightful tartan details.

Outside the property, a lush garden surrounds the property, beautifully landscaped with mature planting and a patio area beside the house, where you can enjoy dessert alfresco at the picnic table in the fresh air. It even has a hot tub for extra indulgence — memories of soaking under a star-filled sky will stay with you forever.

The countryside begins just beyond your garden, with walks around the loch setting off from here and leading you into the breathtaking landscape of Fort William.

Within a mile of your door, the lovely village of Onich is yours to explore, including a tea room overlooking the loch. Take a 6-mile walk or drive over the Ballachulish Bridge to the shores of Loch Leven and you'll find the village of Glencoe, nestled in the Glencoe valley, recently voted the “most romantic” glen in Scotland. The area is famous for its beautiful trails and climbs, its waterfalls and views. Take a scenic hike around Loch Leven or discover some local history at the Glencoe and North Lorn Folk Museum.

If you haven't quite tired out your camera battery, follow the valley past Signal Rock, to a breathtaking site known as the Meeting of the Three Waters, where a pair of waterfalls drop into the River Coe.

If you've still got some life in your walking boots yet, head for the hills. The monster, Ben Nevis, sits majestically 17 miles from Onich with its surrounding glaciers and monumental climbs, if you're feeling brave enough to take it on. Or, at its feet, the stunning 120-metre-high Steall Waterfall is well worth a visit too.
