Surrounded by the heather moorland, lochs and ancient Caledonian pines, Grewshill is a comfortable, traditional holiday house to enjoy the company of family and friends. The property has a large family dining kitchen extending into a sunroom with a large window seat, where you can sit and enjoy the fabulous views over the Perthshire countryside. In addition to the house, which can sleep 4, further accommodation for 6 is available in the adjacent cabins see A477. Although in a rural position, (the last 200 yards of road is unmade) this holiday house is only six miles from the bustling town of Dunkeld and the A9, and therefore is an ideal base for touring the whole of Scotland.

Sorry no cats.

    Grewshill reviews
After about half an hours drive from Dunkeld along a small road, you reach Grewshill. There are no houses nearby resulting in the easy spotting of dear, birds and an occasional hare. The house is left by the owner so as they can step in any moment themselves. The kitchen is new and has 2 ovens and a dishwasher. In the cupboards you find lots of equipment and stores. Some stuff over date but I'm afraid I made a dent in the chocolate supply. As being a novice it took me a day to get the knack of lighting the fire, not that it was necessary because the weather was rather hot outside. That also helped from keeping the damp out of the house. There were electrical heaters in all the rooms and in chilly conditions they will come in handy. It will send up the electricity bill though. Our dog enjoyed himself too. He usually stayed downstairs in the dining kitchen and extension. Only when we went upstairs to sit by the fire and play piano (never knew my son could play) did he go up. The staircase is not too steep but the bare wood makes him cautious. The Victorian bath and toilet are very characteristic. We loved them. The bath fills up like a dream so fast and we must get some of those towels they have there. So thick and soft. If you plan to do a lot of sightseeing take in account that you will always need half an hour to reach Dunkeld before you start making real progress. But in a range of another half hour there are a number of things like castles you can see. In Dunkeld we were regular guests of Menzies who sell organic food, rolls and bagets filled with all kind of tasty stuff, good ice cream and real hot chocolate (not the powdery muck) and of course coffee. A pity the dog wasn't allowed. The Spill the Beans café does allow dogs and what a good excuse to call on them frequently. Delicious home made cakes and also real hot chocolate. The Indian restaurant Darjeeling served a nice meal. I did miss the lassi drink though.

Our second visit to Grewshill, we brought our daughter-in-law and grandchildren this time. The kids loved the open space and we all enjoyed the lovely walks from the cottage door. The cottage itself was so cosy and the views are so peaceful. We saw many different species of birds including eagles, rabbits. a hare, red squirrels and deer. The children loved the lambs and the deer most. Great holiday!
