Description

Sitting in an elevated position on a private estate, the views and scenery from this holiday bungalow are spectacular, looking over Brodick Bay and Goatfell. Once inside this comfortable self catering bungalow you can access all rooms from a central hallway. The lounge /dining room has panoramic views which lead to a separate well equipped kitchen. After a full day exploring this lovely Isle you could enjoy a slightly more relaxing time in the garden, which has a large patio area with garden furniture and lovely views, ideal for a quiet drink at the end of the day.

The Willows is up a steep hill from the main facilities in Brodick. There is a garage and off road parking for up to 2 cars.

EXTRA: The Arran Team will contact you approx 2 weeks before your arrival on behalf of the owner to collect your credit/debit card details for the ‘Good Housekeeping Deposit’. Depending on the size of the property, the good housekeeping deposit is £150 sleeping up to 7 persons and £250 sleeping 8-12 persons. The deposit is processed securely by a deferred payment on their internet banking site; no payment will be debited from the account at this time.

    The Willows reviews
    The Willows is a lovely house with fantastic views over Brodick Bay and Goatfell. It is ideally located being a few minutes drive from the pier and within a short stroll downhill to local shops and restaurants. The accommodation is comfortable and well equipped although would have been even better with a dish washer. The 2 double bedrooms were extremely comfortable and nicely furnished but I'm glad we didn't need to use the twin room which looked very tired. The house was not very clean on our arrival and we had to spend sometime cleaning toilets and work surfaces in kitchen. It would have been helpful to have had some cleaning materials in the house as well as brush and shovel for general cleaning during stay. I consider the entry time of 4 pm on date of arrival and the exit time of 10 am on day of departure for cleaning purposes quite excessive and resulting in losing almost half a day of our holiday.

    Great house, has everything needed for comfortable stay, love the refurbished beds and furniture in bedroom. Views amazing. Only thing is the fence needs to be secured round back garden as dogs are kindly accepted in house , it would be nice to let them in garden, but too many gaps for them to escape!!!!! Have used this house a couple of times now, and hope to do so in the future.

    The willows was good value for money it did smell of damp when we first entered but once the heating had been on and we gave it a good clean we felt better, The views were brilliant, The cottage could do with some maintenance in and out but over all our experience was a very good one.

    Great views from the house, lounge, bedrooms and kitchen all well equipped and comfortable. decor very dated, though that doesn't worry us really. 1 'bathroom' would not be enough if 6 people stayed there (we were only 4), and it had no bath or high quality shower. Location is good and close to Brodick centre but even for us 4 very active people we thought twice about a wander down the steep hill to the seafront. This maybe needs to be very clear for less mobile visitors.

    Lovely cottage with all the comforts you need on a holiday weekend. There is no wifi (could be a plus if you really want to relax, a nightmare if you have to work), but there is a Playstation and many board games which saved us on a rainy day. Be prepared to walk up hill if you book here!

    Lovely stay. Nice cottage, if you're fussy it probably could do with updating but more than fine for us and very reasonable price. We'll be back! Only slight downside for us was there's no bath (and we found out our 15 month old was scared of the shower.) Incline to reach cottage could be difficult with mobility problems. Short stroll to all you need in Brodick. Very quiet and the most beautiful views!

    Overall a very comfortable and enjoyable experience, I would thoroughly recommend the Willows for a break, It`s well equipped and has a great view of goat Fell, and only a short walk to Brodick.

    This single bungalow with great views of the water, island and mainland in the distance. It is situated in a quiet area above Brodick. It sleeps 6 people comfortably, with a large square kitchen and 2 toilets.

    The Willows has spacious comfortable, accommodation however it is slightly jaded and stuck in the 90's! The patio area is superb space but seriously let down by the weeds. Although the grass was cut during our stay, we had to work hard to resist the temptation to get stuck into the weeding ourselves. Fortunately these small things did not seriously detract from our stay but made enough of an impression on us to bring them to your attention. The accommodation would also benefit from having wi-fi as it is difficult to get a mobile phone signal at the house.

    The property was situated in a good location, although the steep ascending roads leading to the property were unexpected. We are young and fit enough but the property may be unsuitable for those less agile. The property was in a convenient location and there were lovely views from the living room. The weeds in the front garden (and back patio) were a little off-putting and gave the impression of neglect. It felt like we had to step over them a little to enter the property. The shower in the bathroom was rather 'tired' and had obviously seen better days. I did use the vacuum cleaner once, but it smelt of dogs which I found unpleasant. Presumably this was because it was recommend for pet owners, and the owner allows holidaymakers to take their pets. On a more positive note, the property was spacious and comfortable and was very well equipped with books, leaflets on what to do, play station, DVDs etc etc. Also the kitchen was well equipped and the rooms were of a good size.

    We were not impressed with the way the bin had not been emptied from the week before as the last occupier did not put the black bin out - it was absolutely full when we arrived. Cottage was fab and very comfortable, plenty hot water when you wanted it and lovely and clean and tidy. Liked the furniture on the patio. No problems with coming back.

    Central location (only 5 minutes by car to the ferry) with a marvellous view over Brodick bay to the mainland. Only 10 minutes walk to the shops but could be 15-20 minutes back uphill, depending on how tired you are!! Ideal location for all ages, but a car is advisable. Arran has wonderful scenery and places for walks.

    Lovely bungalow with fantastic views over Brodick Bay and Goatfell. The accomadation wasnt as clean as other properties we have stayed in. Apart from this we had a fabulous holiday and hope to return! Would have given property a higher rating if there had been a dishwasher and tumble drier.

    The bungalow is in a superb position quite a steep walk up from Brodick and with a beautiful view of the bay and castle. The outside space with the view is excellent (though we reported a broken step). The indoor furniture and decor is a bit dated, but comfortable and spacious. Bedrooms were fine with comfy beds, and the heating was used on some chilly nights - very good. Plenty of hot water and all mod-cons in the kitchen. Will sleep 6 comfortably. We were with German friends (Old Arran hands plus novices!) and they didn't know what to expect - but they LOVED it! We had a great time, and although it was not inexpensive, we would recommend the house as it was in 2010.

    Cottages & Castles Ltd. (acting as agents for property owners) provides a guarantee for tenants who have to cancel their holiday at a cottage.

    If it is necessary to cancel your holiday, for any of the reasons A 1-5 below, you may do so at any time up until the close of business on the last working day before your tenancy commences and we will refund your balance. Your deposit is not refundable. If you have made a late booking and paid in full you will receive your payment minus the normal deposit sum (usually 30%).

    There is no charge for this holiday protection – it is included in the cost of your holiday. Please note that the protection does not apply to holidays in our properties with codes beginning with P (usually castles, mansions and lodges).

    Deposits may be transferred to a different date for a holiday at the same property within 12 months of the original holiday date, subject to availability, but not, however, for a different property. If the new booking is at a higher rate the tenant must pay the extra cost. No refund will be made if the new date is at a lower rate.

    A:
    1. Death, accidental bodily injury, or illness (excluding pre-existing or chronic illness/conditions, or illness arising through epidemics or pandemics)
    a) the Proposer and/or persons with whom he/she has arranged to travel.
    b) any close relative or business associate of the Proposer or of any person with whom he/she has arranged to travel or arranged to meet at the specified holiday establishment. We will require appropriate documentary evidence of illness or bodily injury from a registered medical practitioner. This evidence must state that the Proposer is unfit to travel.

    2. Jury service, witness call or unemployment through redundancy of the Proposer after the date of booking and prior to the commencement date of the holiday.

    3. Fire or theft which is the subject of an insurance claim at the Insured’s main residence or business premises within seven days before commencement of the holiday.

    4. Occupational postings not contemplated at the time the holiday is booked.

    5. Cancellation or curtailment of scheduled transport services due to strikes, riots or civil commotion, but limited to the cost of alternative transport up to £50 per person for the outward journey only.

    But not, however:

    B:
    1. Disinclination to travel.

    2. Failure of public or private transport.

    3. Suicide, attempted suicide, insanity, the influence of intoxicating liquor or the effect of drugs not taken in accordance with treatment prescribed and directed by a qualified medical practitioner or booking a holiday which is or would be against the advice of a registered medical practitioner.

    4. Pregnancy unless problems occur which prevent the person travelling. A  verification must be signed by a registered medical practitioner to this effect

    5. Any loss which is otherwise insured.

    6. Holiday accommodation booked outside Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands
