Inside, this traditional fisherman’s cottage has been beautifully renovated and tastefully decorated in fresh, pretty colours and floral touches to create a bright and welcoming holiday home.

Walk into the cottage and from the hall wander into the warm lounge/diner, where you will find sofas and chairs invitingly arranged around the fire and a corner TV/DVD for some family entertainment. From the lounge, head into the compact kitchen which has everything you need for rustling up some easy family meals. Also downstairs is a family bathroom, with a shower over bath and convenient WC.

Heading up to the first floor you come to the elegant king-size master bedroom, which is light and airy thanks to the large window, and has a smart en-suite shower room. Next door is the cosy bunk bedroom, which children will love.

Moving up the steep stairs to the converted attic is a pretty double room, with an en-suite WC and lovely views across to the sea.

Outside there is an enclosed small raised garden, reached by steep stone steps with a handrail, with a picnic table where you can sit and enjoy the sun. Please note: the garden may not be suitable for young children due to the steps. There is also secure storage for bikes.

The pretty village of Lower Largo has a picturesque harbour and a wide sandy beach, perfect for sandcastles and paddling. Take a stroll along the Keil Burn that flows into the village harbour and watch out for the statue of Alexander Selkirk – the real-life inspiration for Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe.

The historic town of St Andrews (12 miles), famous both for its university and as the home of golf, is well worth a visit. Admire the stunning architecture, visit the beautiful Botanic Garden or investigate the cathedral ruins and climb St Rule's Tower for fabulous views over the town.

On the edge of the Lomond Hills Regional Park is the excellent Falkland Palace and Garden (13 miles). Run by National Trust for Scotland, the palace was the historic country residence of the royal Stuarts and a particular favourite of Mary Queen of Scots. Explore the elaborate rooms before going for a wander in the attractive gardens.

Nice cottage and close access to beach. Surrounding area nice to explore and access for walks are good. Lower Largo is lovely place with good amenities nearby. Great for dogs as good walks into Leven or Elie.

This is our 3rd visit so I think that speaks for itself. Steep stairs might be a problem for anyone with mobility problems. Parking on arrival and departing can be a problem.

This beautiful little cottage is a bit of a Tardis, far more spacious than looks possible from outside. The rooms are laid out well and very well furnished. The two main bedrooms are lovely and big. The kitchen is well equipped although it is probably easier if only one person cooks at once. The little garden is perfect to let a dog out into first Read morething in the morning. The location is wonderful: a short walk to the gorgeous sandy beach and the beautiful coastal path in both directions. Hide

A lovely family house with a real happy feel to it. It was comfortable and cosy. The location was not only great for touring the East Neuk but had a lot going for it locally with walks and beach. Both pubs were welcoming and we had a beautiful meal in the newly refurbished Crusoe Hotel. A lovely holiday.
