Enjoying a waterside location in the small settlement of Inverkirkaig, this two-bedroom lodge is perfect for families seeking a tranquil retreat to discover the abundant wildlife and glorious landscapes of the Assynt Peninsula. Spot otters and seals enjoying the clear waters of sea loch, Loch Kirkaig or have a stone-skimming competition from the pebble beach. Venture into the nearby village of Lochinver (2.5 miles) and dine in one of the award-winning restaurants serving local produce and freshly caught fish. Further afield, hop on the ferry to the wilderness of Cape Wrath (53 miles) for spectacular scenery, whale-watching opportunities and skies full of puffins, guillemots and razor bills.

One of an exclusive collection of holiday lodges in this lochside location, your timber lodge has a warm and homely feel, with timber walls throughout and bright soft furnishings adding accents of colour. From the windows enjoy picturesque views of the surrounding countryside or onto the peaceful water, giving a sense of unity with the natural surroundings and enhancing the feeling of rest and tranquillity within the lodge.

Enter your holiday cottage through the front door and step into the open-plan interior. Conjure up a tasty meal in the well-designed kitchen area to share at the centrally positioned dining table. Snuggle up on the sofa and relax after a busy day of outdoor activities with a family film or simply watch the colours changing on the water outside. When it’s time for bed, there are two comfortable bedrooms, a cosy double and a pretty twin. There is also the family bathroom with shower over corner bath.

Outside, the south-facing veranda leads to the front garden where you can sit and unwind watching the otters swim in the sea loch.

The area surrounding the lodge is a haven for nature lovers, with otters and seals frequent visitors to the sea loch and deer can be spotted grazing in the surrounding hills. Spend evenings watching the seabirds swooping overhead and keep your eyes peeled for elusive eagles. Stroll from your lodge along the banks of the loch for an early evening walk or take to the clear waters on a canoe or kayak. Make sure you follow the path through the woodlands and across the heather moorland to reach the Falls of Kirkaig, a stunning 20m high cascade that tumbles through the rocky ravine.

Lace up your walking boots to explore the stunning scenery of the Assynt Peninsula. Walk the Quinag ridgeway (15.5 miles) crossing three mountains all with distinct characters and terrain and be rewarded with views over Assynt's lochs and lochans. Challenge yourself with a climb up Suilven (3.5 miles), the 731m mountain that dominates the landscape or enjoy staggering views across to the Summer Islands and Assynt as you reach the summit of Stac Pollaidh (13 miles).

Try your hand at a new water sport at one of the nearby beaches with water-skiing, canoeing, kayaking and diving all on offer. Build sandcastles on the white sand of Clachtoll Beach (8.5 miles) or paddle in its clear waters. Water sports galore await you at Achmelvich Bay (6.5 miles) with the wide expanse of bay popular with windsurfers and water skiiers. For a less adrenaline-fuelled visit, cast your rod into the sea for a spot of fishing or walk around the headland for stunning coastal views.

Fabulous chalet and so beautifully looked after. Been coming for years and it keeps getting better. One tiny thing, the apple tree in front of the balcony has grown so much, it is obscuring the view. Any chance of a prune? Thanks Jez and Maggie

A lovely chalet with all you would need for your stay in this beautiful part of Scotland. The view from the decking is superb. Whilst we werent lucky enough to see the Dolphins, Seals, Otters or Pine Martins, we did see deer in the garden on the morning we left. An unbelievable experience to have them less than 10 yds from the decking. Amazing numbRead moreer of birds in the area which added to the sound of the sea in the otherwise silence. A great base for visiting the Western Highlands. Hide

Lovely little piece of oasis, beautiful views! Great walks on your doorstep. When the tide goes out, the beach is perfect for children to play, we walked around the coves, views again stunning. If you can drag yourself away from the Chalet and its wildlife this is perfect spot to travel up & around the NC500. Great base for mountain walkers!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at MacLeod Chalet. The location, on the edge of a beautiful bay flanked by hills, is stunning and the area affords many walking opportunities. The attractive chalet itself is warm, comfortable and well-equipped. It feels nicely off the beaten track but Lochinver is still handy for supplies and opportunities to eat outRead more. Hide

Absolutely beautiful chalet in a wonderful location. If your not used to single track roads just be aware this property is only accessible by one but plenty passing places. This wasnt a problem for us personally also be aware the nearest large supermarket is in Ullerpool 35 miles away.

We can highly recommend this chalet - its very comfortable indeed, well equipped and in the most beautiful location looking out over the bay. It was so peaceful and, as we were there in early March, the few other chalets nearby were unoccupied. Theres no light pollution so we had a sky full of stars at night. And some lovely walks.

Having only been vacated a few hours earlier, the place was absolutely immaculate. Can't fault anything about our stay, just a spectacular location. One of the most important things, I think, is a comfy bed, you won't be disappointed here! The view from the chalet is stunning. Just simply the perfect place for a wee holiday hideaway.
