  • Rural retreat set in a charming remote crofting village on the north west coast of Scotland
  • Perfect for a family adventure or for a peaceful relaxed romantic getaway for two
Property code: 32364

Stay in this rugged and remote Scottish location, where grassy hills are interspersed by charming detached cottages and the far-reaching sea thrashes around in the background. Sleeping four, this wonderful cottage is perfect for a small family or two couples on a romantic retreat.

Each nook and cranny of this cottage is filled with charming little titbits, be it ornaments or books, creating an ultimately homely and welcoming atmosphere. You’ll get an instant feel for the coast when you reach this whitewashed home, 70 yards downhill from a communal parking area, and the coastal colour scheme continues throughout with bright turquoise and crisp whites.

Step inside and first drop off muddy coats and boots in the porch area, before heading straight into the cosy lounge. Settle into a cushy sofa or armchair and switch on the TV with the multi-fuel wood burner flickering before you. The lounge leads onto a well-equipped kitchen, where you’ll find everything you need to cook for your party, and a dedicated lounge at the front of the home.

Two bedrooms, both full of character, can be found on the first floor. The first of these is a bright double bedroom with a stunning view out to sea. Enjoy a touch of privacy and settle into the armchair, relaxing with a book or simply taking in the view. The second bedroom is a cosy twin that can also be set up as super king-size thanks to a zip-and-link bed. Both rooms have a TV for enjoying lazy mornings and a USB charging point.

The home is surrounded by an enclosed garden, ideal for letting dogs out or allowing kids to play. There’s seating to both the front and the rear of the home, ensuring you can enjoy sitting in the sun both morning, afternoon and evening.

  • 2 Bedrooms: 1 Double and 1 twin with zip-and-link (that can be made into a super-king-size on request)
  • Kitchen: with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer and microwave
  • Bathroom: with shower over bath and WC
  • Lounge: with TV, DVD and wood burner (initial supply of logs)
  • TV and a USB charging point in both bedrooms
  • Enclosed garden with front and rear seating areas
  • Ample parking, the property is accessed approx. 70yards down a hill from the parking area
  • Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile, beach 4 miles
  • Short Term Licence No - HI-00039-F
  • EPC rating - E
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £25. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

This wonderful coastal location puts you in close proximity to plenty of charming beaches, and arguably the most beautiful of these is 5 miles away at Clashnessie Bay. This sandy beach boasts a mild microclimate and is a great spot for visitors of all ages to enjoy. Go for a swim or wander up the stunning 15-meter Clashnessie Falls (5.5 miles).

Enjoy a memorable day out with a trip to the famous Handa Island, accessible 22 miles by car and a short ferry ride. The varied wildlife on the island includes red deer, otters, seals, dolphins and sometimes even whales, but the area is also famous for its large community of puffins.

The area is abundant in varied walks and hikes, including the stunning three Corbetts in Quinag, accessible around 19 miles away. Take on one of these peaks or tackle all three, enjoying remarkable views on each one. Alternatively, if you prefer fishing, the area is awash with inland lochs for fly fishing or coastal spots for sea fishing. Come home with salmon or brown trout and enjoy fresh local produce from the comfort of your home.

Enjoy a trip to the local village of Lochinver, 15 miles south of the cottage. This cute fishing port boasts a large fish market for enjoying a fresh catch and a popular local stoneware store for grabbing a souvenir to take home with you. Stay and enjoy a meal at the local lodge or sample the village's superb seafood restaurant.

Stunning location, lovely cottage with everything we needed. Spent hours wildlife watching from the garden at the front of the house. This is our second visit. We have been coming to the West coast of Scotland for the last 20 years and this has got to be the best place.

The cottage was so homely....we loved every moment of it....just remember that you will need to make sure you stock up on food and essentials as its in a remote location and its at least a 20 minute drive to the local spar shop ....but the drive there is fantastic...that's what we want

And then there are the views! Magical. Waking up in the double bedroom or simply sitting in the chair gazing out to sea was unique. Lovely cosy cottage. Beautiful views across the bay and watching the sun rise. Lovely to chat with elderly neighbour who has lived here most of her life. Great fly fishing lesson and advice on amazing mostly sheep free dog walks from Stuart at Assynt fly fishing.
