Set amongst seemingly endless gardens and pretty woodland, this adorable single-storey cottage is the perfect spot to holiday in the heart of the Highlands. The home is adjacent to the owner’s main house yet offers undisturbed privacy in a secluded location, making it an idyllic getaway for a group of four friends or two couples holidaying together. Throughout your stay you can enjoy some beautiful coastal spots or delve into the Cairngorms National Park.

 

This cottage has been kept simple and homely, creating an instantly welcoming atmosphere. The colour scheme is primarily neutral shades, leaving a blank canvas for you to enjoy the bright colours of nature blossoming through the windows.

 

Relax together in the social open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area. On arrival, you can throw open the French doors to one side of this versatile room and let the cool Scottish air breeze through the home. A simple yet well-equipped kitchen can be found to the opposite side of the room, an ideal place for preparing breakfast or a packed lunch for the day ahead. Dine together on an evening before collapsing into one of the comfy sofas or armchairs to get lost in a TV program. Two bedrooms complete this floor. One is a spacious double and the other is a roomy twin, both boasting en-suite bathrooms.

 

This pretty home is brought to life by its vast surrounding gardens. Four acres of lawn and woodlands are there for you to explore, and you can get together in the pretty summer house for early evening drinks. Heading from garden to woodland, follow the stream and cross the picturesque wooden bridge, like something plucked from a fairy tale.

You won't find yourself short of things to see and do in this remarkable Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and you can easily lose yourself in an afternoon of wildlife spotting or an evening's stargazing. For the chance to see a wonderful pod of dolphins, head to the local seaside town of Nairn (10 miles) and embark on a dolphin-spotting boat tour.

Once there you'll find plenty more to keep guests of all ages entertained. This pretty town has a local museum, a vast sandy beach and two championship golf courses. Whilst in the area, stop off at the local Brodie Castle (9 miles) and tour its beautiful 16th and 17th-century rooms and vast daffodil garden.

Find yourself at the brink of the Cairngorms National Park within 13 miles, and head to the quaint town of Grantown-on-Spey (16 miles). This traditional Highlands town is a gateway to enchanting surrounding woodlands, ideal for hiking, biking and watching for local wildlife. The nearby River Spey (16.5 miles) is extremely popular for keen fishermen, and you can spend an afternoon trying to catch an elusive salmon to take home for dinner. For mountain walking, bag a Munro with a trip up the towering Ben Macdui, the base of which is around 30 miles away.

A lovely week, despite the change in weather of the previous month. Two big bedrooms both with good size en-suites. Plenty of hot water. Very friendly hosts and neighbours. Fishing on nearby Loch Belivat is a minute away, and rivers Findhorn and Spey are a short journey. Ideal for those who fish for salmon & trout. This is a grand wee cottage the perfect distance from Nairn, Forres, Elgin, and Inverness. It was perfect for the two of us: enough space to spread out and the two bathrooms made it a bit luxurious for us. Cottage very clean, comfortable and welcoming, with 2 good sized ensuite bedrooms with lots of storage space. This delightful cottage is in a beautiful setting within substantial private grounds. The owners, Margaret and Sandy were the ideal hosts. Always available yet not intrusive. Every need catered for within the cottage. Good location for visiting nearby villages and beaches.

I would recommend this accomodation for anyone looking for a comfortable, clean and well presented holiday home, in a lovely setting, to stay here. It's well located for exploring the many beautiful and historic attractions of the area. The only thing to consider is the need for a car. Very comfortable accommodation for three/four guests - originally we had booked for four people, but we were just a group of three. We were provided with everything that we needed and as described in the details of the cottage. Very welcoming hosts, which added to the experience.

The accommodation is wonderful and extremely well equipped and in a beautiful part of Scotland. Our hosts were also extremely welcoming and we had a relaxing time in the area visiting friends and family.

The cottage is wonderfully located. Both the cottage itself and the outside facilities are very well maintained. The cottage offers enough space for four people and the interior leaves nothing to be desired. Not to be left unmentioned shall be the owners who live next door and who were never intrusive but always helpful.

Margaret was very hospitable and made sure we had everything we needed. We were very comfortable. The cottage is ideal if you want somewhere quiet. It's all new rather than traditional. The listing omits to mention that the kitchen has a dishwasher as well as a washing machine.
