This beguilingly spacious romantic holiday retreat is situated in a picturesque Scottish Borders town and offers cosy and inviting accommodation for up to four guests. Stylishly furnished and imaginatively decorated in warm and restful tones throughout, the property makes for a fantastic getaway for couples, families or a group of friends looking for a quiet spot in the delightful Royal and Ancient Burgh of Lauder.

Complete with a summer house and a large, enclosed mature garden, this wonderful dog-friendly property is ideal for a small family and makes a perfect retreat to unwind in at the end of a lovely day.

On entering this light, fresh and charming period cottage you will find the spacious and relaxing open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The pretty lounge is a perfect space to unwind in with plenty of comfortable seating, TV and floor-to-ceiling windows with French doors leading to the garden. The dining area is nicely situated and makes the perfect backdrop for a romantic meal or for grabbing a snack or breakfast, which you can prepare in the elegant and fully equipped kitchen. Exploring the ground floor further, there’s an additional, more intimate lounge where you can snuggle up and enjoy a favourite film or catch up with a good book. This lounge is coolly decorated and features a double sofa bed. Going upstairs the cosy and welcoming master bedroom features a king-size bed and a TV.

Stepping outside, the large garden is fully enclosed, making it ideal for children to play and for dogs to run about. There’s a lovely seating area perfect for nocturnal stargazing, a spot of al fresco dining or a glass of wine in the evening. At the end of the garden further seating is available in the charming summerhouse.

The bustling town of Lauder has an array of excellent restaurants, shops and pubs to discover and is home to the magnificent 16th century Thirlestane Castle which plays host to a variety of major events including the Vintage Motor Extravaganza, the Scottish Championship Horse Trials and the Tour de Lauder. Local attractions include Mellerstain and Gardens (12.5 miles), Bank Street Gardens (10.5 miles), Old Gala House (11.5 miles) and Abbotsford – the home of Walter Scott (11.5 miles). There are a number of delightful towns to visit including Melrose (11 miles), Selkirk (16 miles) and Kelso (18 miles). The vibrant capital of Scotland is also within easy reach (27 miles). Anglers can try their hand at salmon and trout fishing on the River Leaden and River Tweed, and walkers, hikers and mountain bikers have plenty of trails to explore along the Lammermuir Hills and the Southern Upland Way. This is a fantastic area for keen cyclists, nature lovers and golfers, with a choice of great golf courses nearby including those at Lauder (1 mile), Torwoodlee (9 miles), Galashiels (10.5 miles) and Melrose (11.5 miles). Melrose is also home to attractions including Priorwood Garden, Harmony Garden and the Three Hills Roman Heritage Centre.

Gorgeous cottage with everything you could possibly need, the garden is beautiful and being fully enclosed was a real bonus for our dog, we were sorry to leave and already planning another visit. A really lovely cottage. Beautiful furnishings and well equipped and the garden was well maintained and secure for our dog. The summer house was a nice touch to get some fresh air if the weather isn't to good. The locals we met were all very friendly and welcoming to their community. We absolutely loved our time at Lammermuir Cottage, from the moment we stepped through the door we felt at home. The decor and furnishings were of a very high standard, the cottage was spotlessly clean and so well equipped. The garden was fabulous and entirely secure for our dog. A lovely cottage and a great base for accessing all parts of the Border region. The cottage was equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay as well as a very large and well kept garden. Great cottage , well equipped, and ideal for travelling around the Scottish Borders. Fantastic garden great for relaxing and ideal for our border collie. Would definitely go back and recommend to anyone looking for a cottage in this area.

Fantastic cottage, refurbished to a high standard, equipped with everything you need. We had a great week at Lammermuir Cottage! It was quiet, comfy and cosy, and well equipped. The large enclosed garden was a delight! We loved the friendly village of Lauder, the shops and pubs. We had a fantastic week in Lammermuir Cottage with our dog. The garden was brilliant for him. The cottage looks small from the outside but has loads of space inside. It had everything we needed. We are already looking at dates for our next stay.

What a lovely cottage and so perfectly situated for a bit of low level touring. (Too many wonderful towns in the area to visit all). The cottage was so comfortable with everything you could dream of and so immaculate. Shame the weather wasn't great enough to enjoy the beautiful garden. Great to have parking just outside the door. Great location and beautiful house & garden. We stayed for one week with our dog and all three of us really enjoyed the time there. Great base and pretty much left the car parked up for the week which was lovely. Enjoyed the house, local shops and pubs. Would definitely go back to this property.

A marvelous stay in Lauder. The cottage really was bigger inside than it appears from the outside. Well equipped, comfortable and certainly up there with the best accommodation we have stayed in. From walking in the door, with a view straight through to the garden we felt at home. Everything you could need is provided. Enclosed garden great for 4 legged members of the family. Lovely well equipped cottage. Better than the photos show. We were lucky to have good weather and really made use of the garden which our dog loved. You forgot that you were in town when out in the garden it is quiet and peaceful. Great for bird watching! Plenty of walks in the area. Great butchers and fruit and veg shop also well stocked Co op

Beautiful cottage, ideally situated in Lauder for all amenities. Great walks, nearby weather permitting. Lauderdale hotel, black bull, do lovely food, and cost for a nice drink. Bus or train into Edinburgh for a great day out.
