Less than 2 miles away is the Johnnie Armstrong Gallery where you can see the goldsmiths at work and maybe even pick up a stunning piece direct from the studio. You’re not completely cut off from civilisation though - boutiques, bars and restaurants can be found in the bustling market town of Hawick (11 miles).

Your bespoke, luxurious micro-lodge has a contemporary design and a spacious open-plan interior. French doors look out onto the open countryside and you can cuddle up in bed watching the light playing across the distant hills. Decorated in a soothing palette of neutral tones and with wooden floors and accents, your lodge has a calming and peaceful atmosphere.

Step onto your fully enclosed private decked area and pause for a moment to appreciate the wonderful countryside views stretching in all directions. After a day of hiking the hills, sink into the sumptuous sofa with a glass of wine and snuggle up to watch the latest blockbuster or simply enjoy the views. Rustle up tasty meals for two in the well-designed compact kitchen area to share at the cosy dining table. At the back of your lodge is the comfy double bed where you can relax and enjoy the stunning views. Completing your accommodation is the stylish shower room.

Enjoy fantastic hill and countryside views over Skelfhill Pen and the Henry Scott Riddle monument from your fully enclosed deck area. Soak tired limbs in your indulgent open-fronted, private, housed hot tub, the perfect place to relax and unwind. Dine alfresco at the comfortable seating area with charcoal BBQ. There are walks straight from the doorstep through the surrounding countryside. Lace up your walking boots for a hike along the Teviothead Circular, a 9-mile trail along quiet country lanes, past the grave of notorious reiver Johnny Armstrong and across pretty burns.

The largest of the Border towns, Hawick (11 miles) is well worth a visit. Browse the many boutiques selling the world-famous Hawick cashmere and tweed. Visit the Borders Textile Towerhouse, a fascinating museum giving an insight into the region’s textile manufacturing history and the Hawick Museum where the town treasures are housed. In the heart of Hawick is the Borders Distillery where you can take a tour to see how their single malts and gin are produced, and of course sample a wee dram or two.

Stroll the beautiful gardens at Monteviot House (22 miles). Breathe deeply in the aromatic herb garden and the fragrant rose garden, admire the spectacular colours of the winter garden and feel relaxed in the tranquil water garden. Deep in the heart of the Ettrick Forest, Bowhill House (24.5 miles) has old masters on display and ancient tapestries adorning the walls. We absolutely loved our week at Cuddies Lodge. The lodge was very comfortable and warm for the chilly November nights. The hot tub was amazing and a great place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring. There were lots of walks from the lodge for our wee dog to enjoy. We're already planning a return trip!

Stayed in Cuddies Lodge last weekend as a birthday gift from my mum. It was a nice stay with gorgeous views, but knowing how much she paid for this, it was a little bit underwhelming. The views are spectacular from the cabin and the highlight was definitely the hottub, which seemed well maintained. There was no welcome basket and the fridge and freRead moreezer were completely empty upon arrival. All in all, we really liked Cuddies Lodge and had a wonderful time but we felt the price point was off. Hide
