There are wonderful walks throughout the estate, with fishing, shooting and catering available by arrangement with the owner. This beautiful property makes an ideal backdrop for weddings, celebrations and reunions.

This is an imposing but welcoming house with a large stone-flagged and pillared entrance hall, a stylish two-storey hanging staircase and several beautifully light and spacious oval rooms. Picturesque views of the garden and surrounding countryside can be enjoyed from every room. The house has been imaginatively refurbished and decorated in a light and occasionally quirky style, with fine fabrics and a selection of antiques dotted throughout. With fine cotton bed linen and original deep claw-foot baths, this is a wonderful retreat to relax in at the end of a fabulous day.

Entering this idyllic home, you will find the spectacular stone-flagged hallway with its impressive staircase. Exploring the ground floor, you will discover the light, attractive and spacious oval drawing room which features an open fire, plenty of seating and glorious views. The magnificent high-ceilinged dining room has a large dining table, an open fire and wonderful views, and is the ideal location for sharing a celebratory meal. There is also a charming TV room and a lovely breakfast room, both of which are perfect for relaxing in. There is also a fuse ball table,  boot room and bathroom on the ground floor.

The lower ground floor features a fully equipped kitchen with additional dining space, and a games room where you can try your hand at table tennis. There is also a cosy twin bedroom on this floor as well as a utility room, larder, bathroom and separate WC.

Heading up the stunning staircase, the first floor offers five beautifully decorated and stylish bedrooms. There are two double rooms with a shared Jack and Jill bathroom, a king-size room with an en-suite bathroom and two double bedrooms, including one built into the oval of the building. There is also an additional bathroom.

Finally, the second floor offers three more bedrooms: two double rooms including one oval room with gorgeous hand-painted walls, and a twin room. There are also two bathrooms on the second floor.

Going outside, you can unwind in the delightful gardens which feature extensive lawns and flowerbeds. You can also explore the surrounding estate woodland. The River South Esk runs through the grounds, and you may be lucky enough to spot deer from time to time. Ample parking is available.

We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing week at Downie Park House. Rooms and bathrooms were all very clean. Beds were really comfortable and duvets/covers/pillows were excellent quality. A couple of bedrooms were very cold but to be expected in such an old property. The fires provided an excellent heat and the logs were plentiful which was very much appRead morereciated. The only improvement could be a few more showers as only one shower seemed to work well. Downie Park was a real escape. Thank you Hide
