This secluded and peaceful getaway on the Isle of Arran rests in generous private gardens, with unspoilt panoramic green views and overlooked by mountains. Sleeping four across two rooms, the single-level cottage maintains accents of character while modern refurbishments give a bright and light yet cosy feel to the property. This island retreat makes the perfect base for exploring the many beaches and glens that abound – not to mention the golf course on your doorstep.

Enter into a large open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner area, bright with high specification white finishes and ample mood lighting. Here, you can sink into the substantial and comfy sofas in the carpeted area and watch a film or sip a glass of wine. The large, bright kitchen has everything needed to rustle up a favourite family meal and features a roomy split-level breakfast bar with both high and low seating. Start the day’s adventures over coffee while looking out into those expansive gardens and unbeatable views. Two stylishly decorated rooms, a double and a twin, await at the end of a long day or you might soak in the bath to relax.

Outside, you will delight in the sheer space afforded to you in this private haven. Down the massive lawn are a garden table and seating providing the perfect country backdrop for an al fresco meal or BBQ under the imposing mountains. There is plenty of stomping ground on the lawn for ball games, and pets and children can run around safely within the walled garden.

Set within the dramatic Glen Sannox, you might catch a glimpse of the rare birds to be found around the area, or decide to step across Sannox burn, pursue the coastal path to a sandy beach, or investigate further up into the rugged mountains. There is an endless wealth of stunning scenery to explore.

Should you opt for a more relaxed day on foot, the sandy coastline is less than 400 metres from your door, where you can relax on the beach taking in the sea air and listening to the rush of the waves. Those dramatic peaks are not far away, providing a backdrop to the seafront along with attractive woodlands for a break with truly unique environmental beauty. Why not visit the Corrie golf course, the fringe of which backs onto your cottage retreat? On the way back, you might be tempted to stop at the tea room for excellent locally sourced refreshments.

If you want to capture the stunning scenery as a memento of your break, you can try your hand at making your own postcard-worthy shots; Arran In Focus provides photography workshops and tours (9 miles) for all skill levels, and you can set out on location to explore the stunning landscapes and wildlife.

This is a comfortable cottage in an amazing location. It is incredibly private and has a huge walled garden which is a real boon. Only a 10 minute walk to the shore where you'll see seals and one day i was lucky enough to see an otter. There are red squirrel in the garden and red deer are very close by.
