This delightful shooting lodge, sleeping 18 guests and two dogs across eleven tranquil bedrooms, is a particularly fine example of a Victorian Scottish house; it’s now a comfortable and stylish holiday let that retains its traditional atmosphere. Set within the large Inverbroom Estate, less than a mile from Loch Broom, this house is perfect for a large family or group of friends who want to enjoy some time away from the hustle and bustle of modern life in attractive and peaceful surroundings.

The rooms within the property are gracious and elegant with ornate fireplaces and decor that’s sympathetic to the house’s age; lighting and large windows create a bright and airy feel. Rich woods in the floors and furniture make the home welcoming and relaxing for those cosy nights in.

The charming kitchen/diner is a haven for cooks thanks to the three electric ovens; sit and enjoy casual meals at the breakfast table or enjoy sociable dinners in the separate dining room. There’s also a double bedroom on the ground floor. Snuggle up in the lounge in front of the open fire with a book, or challenge someone to a game of billiards in the games room – it’s the ideal hideaway.

Up the winding staircase, a country-style feel has been created in the bedrooms on the first floor using handsome vintage pieces and quaint décor. Relax with sumptuous linens to sink into at the end of the day. Enjoy a long soak in the roll top bath in one of the en-suite king bedrooms; every room benefits from an en-suite shower or bathroom so there won’t be any long queues.

Outside, a pretty enclosed garden is ideal for children and pups to play in, while you look on with an al fresco drink from the garden furniture as the BBQ sizzles away. Wander around the estate, along the gorge and access a beautiful valley where you may spot lambs in the spring.

  • 11 bedrooms - 1 double on the ground floor, 3 king-size and 5 twin rooms on the first floor, 2 single rooms on the second floor
  • 9 bathrooms - 1 ensuite shower room, 1 ensuite with roll top bath and shower, 6 ensuite bathrooms with shower over bath, 1 bathroom with shower over bath, two additional ground floor WC's

  • 3 electric ovens, electric hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, 2 dishwashers and drinks fridge
  • Laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer
  • TV, stereo
  • Games room with Smart TV, Billiards table, games and books

  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details

The lodge has plenty of activities right on its doorstep. Fly fishing on the River Broom runs from mid-June until the end of September, and the estate has four rods. Fish for salmon or trout on the remote hill lochs around the property. There's also stalking available for one or two rifles from August.

Head up to the fishing port of Ullapool, just 8 miles away, for a bit of retail therapy and a pit stop at a pub before you head out for walking. If golf is more your thing, the picturesque Ullapool Golf Course is set on the shores of Loch Broom. Take a cruise ship to Loch Broom and the Summer Isles from Ullapool Harbour and see what wildlife you can spot.

Enjoy walks whatever your ability further afield but still not far from the property; wander through gentle woodland beside the Black Water River from Silverbridge (23 miles) and Little Garve Bridge (24 miles). Black Water Falls (23 miles) is a sight to behold, with tumbling peaty waters glistening with white plumes. Take in the beautiful scenery around Corrieshalloch Gorge or climb one of the many Munros. Children will enjoy the Highland Museum of Childhood (33.5 miles), which tells the story of childhood in the Highlands in years gone by.
